Welfare recipients - drug tests? |
What's wrong with making EVERY welfare recipient (whether it's Food Stamps, welfare, public housing, whatever) take a MANDATORY drug test on a routine basis, and be denied any aid if they fail ? Because your idea makes too much sense. You would actually be imposing conditions on the poor souls who mooch off of others, and that my friend is just not compassionate. What you should be asking is what you can do to outfit your local welfare queen's crib with hardwood floors and a 60 inch flat screen TV, like the mooch in New Orleans. Would you like to be the subject of profiling just because you had to support your children with public assistance? Would it bother you if all taxpayers viewed YOU as a drain on society and drug addict when infact you never touch the stuff? Report It Yes, it should happen. the only reason it doesn't become mandated is the fact that whoever introduced it would be called a racist. I am subject to random drug testing, as well as alcohol testing when on the job, and I see no reason people living off of my taxes shouldn't be required to do the same. Many people will say that drug addiction or alcoholism is a disease and people deserve help while recovering. Drug abuse and alcoholism are choices, not diseases. While I have no problem helping people who truely need it, there is just something wrong about rewarding someone for the bad choices they make. On the one hand, I don't want my tax money to go for crack addicts. Your idea is a good one, but how are you going to test and take care of the older people that have no ways to get to where the testing is being done. The whole system needs to be taken a better look at. There are many things that should be done, here are a few I see, a) replace all the former welfare recipients that are working in the welfare offices with people that have an education and knowledge how the system needs to be administered. b) every able male and in some cases females that are able to work a job to earn the right to receive welfare payments/checks a job. There are city and state jobs available for these people to work at to receive credits toward their welfare benefits. Everyday cities and states are reporting how they can't do something because of man power, use these people for the brainless, less skilled, and the main work force where they really are needed. They don't work they don't receive any benefits, in the case where children are involved, issue coupons that can be redeemed for only the food items on the coupons. The end of the month the stores send the coupons to whatever office they are assign to receive. I'm not trying to be racist, but when I read all these stories about older citizens having a hard time taking care of themselves, people that lie to get support, highways that need to be cleaned up, city streets that aren't being maintained because of the work force, non -American freeloaders demanding and getting benefits, it has to stop soon, it isn't just the drug taking welfare recipients. There are people that really do need the help, but with some on welfare it's for months and years, they make no effort to help themselfs get off the need for welfare. . |
