If a person promiscuously sleeps around but uses condoms EVERY time, what are the chances/risks for STD's?

I heard that some STD's aren't prevented with condoms, particulary the ones that are contracted by skin-to-skin contact, like herpes or something. Some are prevented, like chlamydia.

I'm worried about my friend. Most of the time, she sleeps around with different men AND women, & she says she uses condoms, but maybe it's narrow-minded of me to think, "Well, who would use condoms for every sex act with different peope?" Is it narrow-minded for me to think that a promiscuous person never uses protection? It is kinda weird how she ALWAYS tests NEGATIVE for STD's, AIDS, & pregnancy. Do you think she's just lying to me, saying she protects herself, so I won't be worried? She does admit to having a sexual addiction which developed from her repeated sexual molestation as a child.

I'm just worried. I'm afraid some one would get her sick or hurt. I'm about to have an anxiety attack over this.

well it sort of is narrowminded to think that because any one who has unprotected sex can get an std. people will also lie to get sex. at least she uses condomg and that will cut the risk down for most disseases and pregnancy. but the risk is still kind of high if she is sleeping with women because i'm not sure if there is a female comdom available, or some sort of protection besides dental dams. i am not promisuous and ended up with herpes because my boyfriend who i have been with for over two years didn't even know that he had it and ended up passing it onto me. i had only one other boyfriend before him and that lasted four years.

Condoms are only about 52% effective, but it it still the best way to prevent STD's. Anyone sexually active needs condoms.

If she is sleeping with women then I doubt she is using condoms and the risk of STD's is obviously higher.

All you can do is tell her you care and how you feel about what she is doing. You can't live her life for her, only be there for her with the facts.

Try to relax, she will only seek help when she is ready for help, and sadly she doesn't seem ready.
