Red cross LIFEGUARDING?

tomorrow is my very last day of my lifeguarding class. i am taking it in my highschool.

my final written test consists of a first-aid section, and a head, neck, and back injury section. also, i will be asked to physically complete 3 life-threatening scenarios.

to anyone out there who has taken this course offered by the RED CROSS, i was just curious if this test was on the harder side, or easier side? i've passed all the other tests.

The final test is a compilation of the previous tests/quizzes. If you have done the work, the test should be relativity easy. As for the skills, it depends on who is giving the test, some are easier than others.

Good luck.

it's very easy as long as you've read the book and paid attention in class

it just depends how strong you are. for me that part was kinda medium. the first aid section is way easy and completley all common sense. good luck though!

The scenarios will test your knowledge on 1) type of entry into the pool 2) type of rescue and 3) type of care you will give.

The type of entry and rescue you do will be determined by the situation. Is it a deep water rescue? do you suspect a spinal injury? did you witness the injury/situation?
The type of care is dependent on your victim. Are they breathing? Is the airway blocked? do the have a pulse?

Basically, take your time - don't panic. Remember to activate your emergency action plan (EAP) and call 911. CABC - check Consciousness, clear Airway, Breathing, Circulation. If you did well on your written the practical shouldn't be too difficult. Good luck.

Funny story I'm red cross certified. At my training place when we got there, they put a blind fold on us, and led us into the locker room. Then we had to change and we sat waiting for our name to be called. Its one of the scariest moments because you really question yourself if you know what your doing and doubt that you may pass. Anyway I heard my name, I was wearing shorts and a tee shirt, I had my swim suit under them. Anyway a woman is drowning in the pool without thinking I grabbed a rescue tube and jumped in, still with my tennis shoes on. I rescued her and had to put on the backboard. Then I had to do a passive drowner rescue and I was done! I passed although my instructor laughed at me long and hard that I jumped in clothes and all.
So it was both hard and easy having to come into the pool area with a person drowning
