Tired Cat? |
Lately,my cat has slowed down alot.She used to be very hyper and always running around the house.(Shes only 2 years old).But now she just lies around the house.Last night she spent the entire night sleeping under a table in the corner of our living room.And she hasent eatin since yesterday afternoon.I took her to the vet Friday morning and had her tested for Leukemia and AIDS,but they both came up negative. I decided to pick her up and take her to her food dish,and she ate a little bit...then kinda put one of hers paws by her ear,then did the same thing with the other paw.Then started to lean over like she was dizzy. As you know, cats can't talk, so she can't tell you what is wrong. And cats are expert at hiding pain. Many times, the only way to know that you cat is not feeling well is to observe their behavior. Typical "ill" behavior is hiding (an instinct used in the wild to avoid being taken advantage by a predator) and loss of appetite. I'm surprised that the vet didn't look into this deeper and offered no assistance. I would dump that vet and go to another. They will examine her and run a blood test and most likely know what the problem is and how best to treat it. BTW, cats cannot survive very long without food as they do not utilize fat in times of emergency as we humans do. Cats tend to extract needed minerals and such from their own bodies, such as bone or muscle when they don't eat. I would say that 2 days maximum is about all you can let a cat go with eating before more serious problems develop. Please find another vet asap. Demand that you want then to diagnose the problem. ok well i have a cat that is around 4 and she is sleepy too. i dont know why your cat is all of a sudden tired but amke sure she is eating daily. if not it will mess up her immune system. but its good that she doesnt have AIDS or leukemia it is possible that hse is just calming down with age but if she isnt eating this is not the likely cause.maybe she ate something that she shouldnt have like a plant or she could have had a reaction to some kind of cleaner you use this would be my bet. in addition you should be feeding her a grain free high protein human grade canned or raw food. this will make a big differnece in the health of any cat or dog. always transition slowly could be low on B vitamins. Have you tried cooking her a nice bit of liver? |
