Is being tested for std's dangerous while pregnant? |
i went to a walk in hospital and got tested for std's and aids etc, however what i didnt know at the time was i was 3 weeks pregnant when i had it done! they never picked up on anything and i didnt find out i was pregnant untill i was 8 weeks pregnant. they saw the heartbeat but was this dangerous that i had done and could it have any long term damage?? sorry i wasnt just assuming they should no but i asked my midwife and she said they should of picked up on this but wanted to see if anyone else thought the same No way! It is not dangerous. They should be testing you for STD's after they have found that you are pregnant. They wouldn't have noticed that you were pregnant because that's not what they were looking for. When you have a bloodtest they will only look for the things that the doctors tell them to look for. Sweetness - yeah right - wahhhhhhh funny! this will cause no problems, they didnt notice you were pregnant cause you didnt ask them to check! they cant do tests for everything or you would never got out of hospital Since every STD test I know of is non invasive (blood test), there shouldn't be any harm to the baby. The bigger concern of harm to the baby is if you DO have an STD, depending on what it is, it can be passed to the baby no in the first OB appt you hvae they even do a pap smear to test for stds and infections you may have. i had a colposcopy when i was pregnant Im about 99.9% sure the std tests are not dangerous to the fetus. In fact it is better that you get tested for the stds because the stds could effect your pregnancy and your child! No, it is not dangerous to get tested for STD's while pregnant. In fact, on one of your first trips to the Obstetrician, she will test you for several STD's, which might endanger the pregnancy. It absolutely has not done any long term damage. Is being tested for std's dangerous while pregnant? If you told them you weren't pregnant they had no reason to test you for pregnancy. Separate test. I know with my first son I had never been tested for STD's or AIDS before. They tested me when I went in for one of my first checkups. I was around 8 weeks pregnant. He is perfect!! Don't stress about it. A lot of women who have never been tested get tested after finding out they are pregnant with no long term health effects on the baby. No when you are pregnant and go for a check up to the hospital they will do an aids test and will look for any signs of infections. Im aware of the process of std screening and not sure if this will effect the baby, doubt it though. If you speak to your doc about this concern he'll be able to put your mind at rest. Tests were not dangerous my sister-in-law is 9 mths. p.g. and 2 months ago she just got tested for everything. good luck Well in Ireland the test u for HIV, hepatitis etc on ur first clinic visit when u r pregnant. this is usually around 12 weeks. so i cant imagine y it would cause a problem. its always been routine here anyway. i taught every country did this. how else would they now if there was any risk of passing infection on to ur baby? all this is done through blood testing. I knew I was pregnant and My doctor tested me for all of that. When you are pregnant you need to know if you have a disease, because if you do then it is possible the baby could get it. Plus all it is to check it drawing blood(which they do anyways), placing a q-tip thing in your cheek, and swabbing below. It is completely safe and if you have a doctor you will gt checked as well from him. That way baby is safe and so are you. Some disease doctors must know so they can keep an eye on baby, and you will have a special delivery. But it is safe. Nope, it's not dangerous, and in fact, for many people, it's a routine part of prenatal care. While the cervix may be tender and sensitive in some people, and may bleed when swabbed (which is how they test for some STDs) it's not harmful or dangerous for the baby, and in fact, it's better to know if you are infected with something and treat it if possible rather than waiting til after birth when it could cause more serious complications to the baby. |
