Reading some posts about miscarriage has made me worry....what do you think?

Some people have posted that they didnt even have any pain or bleeding when they miscarried. I had an ultrasound at 5 weeks and everything was fine there was a heart beat and everything. Im now 12 nearly 13 weeks pregnant and I havnt had any scans or anything since and how am I meant to know everything is ok? I had a blood test a couple of weeks ago for the usual tests and if something was wrong would that have picked it up? It was to see if I had aids etc, its a routine blood test.

If theres a heart beat at 5 weeks and Ive had no pain, cramping or bleeding is there a chance I have miscarried?

Any stories and opinions would be great. Thank you.

All of us pregnant mamas go through this early on ...it is completely normal to worry about your little one. Something to keep in mind about these other posts you are reading about miscarriages where the mother didn't bleed or know the baby died...I would say about 90% of these women didn't have an ultrasound ealry in their pregnancy like you did.

More often than not, a doctor will wait to do an ultrasound until between 10-12 weeks so they have a good view of the heart and such (unless of course you have a history of miscarriage or if you have bleeding early on).

The chances of you having a miscarriage after a strong heartbeat being detected is very small..not to mention you are almost in your 2nd trimester (starts at 14 weeks).

I too was worried about this (I had bleeding early on), but everything is going wonderfully now...try to relax and remain positive...there will come a point where you really start to enjoy feeling your baby move and you begin bonding with your little pumpkin (you are getting really close to that time).

Try to focus on making lists of everything you are going to need and checking out stores online that you may want to register at. That REALLY helped me to remain positive through that first trimester.

If you're THAT worried about having a miscarriage, shouldn't you talk to your doctor instead of on Yahoo Answers?

You're facing what every woman faces when in early pregnancy. You don't usually have more than one scan early on, and you might not hear the heartbeat with a doppler until 12 weeks. So there might be a month of worrying and wondering. Honestly, there is nothing you can do about it even if you did have a missed miscarriage (that's what a miscarriage is called when there are no obvious symptoms like bleeding and cramping). You'll just have to wait it out like everyone does, and try to stay positive. Soon enough you'll be able to hear the heartbeat at every appointment, and in a few more weeks you'll be feeling baby move, which is always reassuring that things are ok.

Every pregnant woman who wants to have a baby is worried about miscarrying; its natural. If it helps to know, I had a very real threatened miscarriage early in my pregnancy and eventually went on to have a healthy baby. Go with the flow...if everything looks fine, it most probably is. Best wishes.

hey hun, first of all ... relax.
Stress itself is NOT good for the baby.
Let me tell you first hand, I was EXACTLY like you when I was pregnant. I didn't have any morning sickness and no 'symptoms' of pregnancy, other than the missed period. I took the test (a home pregnancy test) and got a positive. Made an appt. with an OBgyn at 6 weeks and got to hear the babies heartbeat. At 15 weeks, I started spotting ...
they did an ultrasound and the baby was perfect (he was sucking his thumb! :)
That baby boy was born July 14th, 2007 (7 days past his due date) .. weighing 8lbs 6oz. and absolutely perfect :)

The chance of miscarriage drops tremendously at 12 weeks, that is when the baby starts living off of your bloodstream (so be careful in everything you do!) ..
But don't stress.
If you miscarried the baby, you WOULD have known it .. there would have been blood! No blood means everything is right on track!
Since you DID hear the heartbeat, that means the baby is LIVING. If something happened to the baby .. you would have passed it.
It sounds like everything is going great and right on track! now relax and enjoy the pregnancy!!!!
(you're lucky you got to hear the heartbeat so early .. some heartbeats aren't detected that early :)

I know how you feel. There is also that time of uncertainty between when you first hear the heartbeat and your next appointment. Those four weeks or more can be very anxious because you have very few signs to confirm all is well.

At the least, if your pregnancy symptoms are still going strong (i.e. nausea,heartburn, gas, fatique, headaches, etc.) that's one positive sign all is probably well.

Until then, just hang tight and say a little prayer and think positive. You should be having another checkup soon and they can use the dopplar to find the heartbeat.
