Sleeping Problems?!?

I don't know what to do. I don't sleep very well and any sleep I do get is troubled-broke by waking up periodically throughout the night. Sometimes I get a full night's sleep, but it does me no good. I am physically drained almost everyday, yet school requires me to be in top condition, I am in 8th grade. Could the stress of 8th grade (picking classes for High School, maintaining friendships, the ever-looming monotony of the state tests) be aiding the cause of whatever is keeping me up? My mother insists it is the mattress, my father says it is the bed frame itself. (Both the bed and the frame are older than me) I however, don't know enough to really pin the blame on anything. Please help!!!!!

Um yes. I've been there done that and if u want to see stress is try filling out college applications for 10 different colleges, getting ur high school credits to graduate, and actual going tot college where u have to stay up till sometimes 1-4 in the morning studying and writing papers. But enough about that maybe it really is ur bed that is making u uncomfortable to sleep and because of this its causing u to stay up all night and pile on more stress and don't drink coffee it will keep u up all night that makes it worse.

Go see a doctor and tell her. I waited years before I finally got treated and regret it now

Ask them to buy a new bed and frame, at least you will be more comfy, see if that helps. If not, it could be the pressures of year 8, but you have to get used to them, still a few years to go yet. Good Luck

i used to be like this, and sometimes yes, it does happen to me when im worrying or nervous about something. so school could be a factor, but not every night. i doubt you are stressed about school going to bed on a friday night.
what i suggest is exercise.
im dead serious. it was like a magical cure for me.
i joined the cross country and track team and ran every day. i got a good workout, and it made my body physically tired. i wasnt noticeably tired, like just walking around or eating dinner, but once i laid down i was out cold with in 2 minutes. and didn't wake up until my alarm woke me up.
i feel so refreshed when i wake up now, because my body is healing from my running in my sleep.
i suggest trying to fit in some exercise, because, it REALLY MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE!!!!!!
hope i helped :)

drink coffee or tea

Could you have sleep apnoea? This can happen to young people who are a bit overweight and have thickening around the neck and sloppy throat muscles.

Hi. The reason for your lack of quality sleep can be involve several factors. The mattress can be an issue and the frame can be if it is constantly making noise during the night. However, you can be suffering from a sleep disorder which is quite common tho many people spend most of their lives undiagnosed and sleep deprived. You may want to speak to your primary doctor and see if s/he can make a referral to a sleep specialist who can do further testing to see if infact it is a sleep disorder. Usually one will be asked to spend the night in a sleep clinic hooked up to a machine that monitors ones brain activities and breathing. Futhermore, one should keep good sleep hygiene . A list of sleep hygiene can be found by running a search for "sleep disorders" and or "sleep hygiene".... sometimes one's sleep disorder can be solved from simply practicing sleep hygiene.

Try sleeping on an air matress, on the floor, as an inexpensive test, to eliminate possibilities. View sleepWAKING, in section 3, at ezy build, below. See insomnia treatments, in section 3, at ezy build, below. Use one of the relaxation methods, in bed, after lights out, on pages 2, 11, 2.c, or 2.i, but they can take some time to learn, (progressive muscular relaxation excepted) so learn and become proficient in their use during the day; an alternative is to use the EFT, in section 53, and pages 2.q, and 2.o, saying to yourself: "Even though I currently have a sleep disorder, I deeply and completely accept myself." (or choose your own wording) while you use the acupressure tapping. Find out which works best for you, in the daylight hours, so you will be prepared, come bedtime. For many people, a good idea is to develop a set "wind down" routine for the last hour before bedtime, so your unconscious mind learns that it is time to put thinking aside, and prepare for mindfulness, (awareness, without cogitation/purposeful thought) or the EFT, in preparation for sleep, but the idea with mindfulness is to not even think about sleeping: just drift off, naturally, during exercising those techniques. http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris ~~~ STRESS: See stress treatments, at ezy build, below on page 42. Practise daily, one of the relaxation techniques on pages 2, 11, 2c, or 2i; whichever works best for you, but the mindfulness breathing for 15 - 20 mns is ideal, although the progressive muscle relaxation can be learned quickly, and takes only several minutes, if pressed for time. Employ the EFT version for use in public, for which you can reasonably claim that you have a headache, as you massage/tap your temples, but it may be advisable to restrict yourself to subvocalising (saying it to yourself, in your mind, not aloud). Section 53, and pages 2, 2.q and 2.o refer. "Even though I sometimes suffer from stress, I deeply and completely accept myself". You can also multitask, using the gazing technique, as you walk/jog or exercise, by focusing on a distant object, noting any thoughts which flash across your mind, without pursuing any particular train of thought, just gently redirect your focus to the gazing. Yoga, or Tai Chi may suit others, better. For some people, visualisation of a quiet, relaxing scene, like a tropical beach, (feel the sun warming you, as a gentle breeze caresses your skin lightly, inhaling the tangy, salt laden spray from the waves, crashing on the white, sandy beach, as the seagulls swoop and cavort playfully overhead; you feel just like one of them; free to soar and wheel, and that this moment will last forever) works well for them. Take 4 Omega 3 fish oil supplements, daily, replacing 2 of them with cod liver oil supplements, or a teaspoonful of the oil (I spread mine on toast, and mask its strong taste with fishpaste, and pepper), in the winter months only, and eat healthily, in accordance with your "nutritional type" as determined at http://www.mercola.com/ SEARCHBAR. http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris

Some people take benedryl before bedtime. It has a sedating effect without being addictive. Also, there are some natural supplements you can get like GABA, 5htp, melatonin. They are all natural and work really well. That is what I take for sleep. I can easily sleep 8-10 hours and only wake up during the night once in awhile.
