Will I get va hearing disability?

I had My hearing checked out at the VA Hosp. and got some hearing aids. I turn in my paper work for disability due to service connected. After that the VA office in Houston,tx sended me to a local hearing doctor to be checked again and I had my VA issue aids. I still tested with lost on both ears.

1.Why did they do this?.....A VA Hosp. stated I do have a hearing lost.
2. Why do they not take the word from a VA Hosp.?
3. If I do get a rating...will it be one for my rigth and one for my left?

While in active Army I was checked and found to have a hearing lost and had paper work on it.
After getting out was told not too much for disability and given a rating of O%, but paper work on records at VA.
This is a new claim in support that over the years my hearig got worse in time due to active sevice connected.

Okay Your question is a bit confusing but I am trying. Okay it sounds like you already have a 0% service connection for hearing right? If so and you filed a claim to reevaluate your hearing and try to get the % increased. Yes they will increase your percent if your hearing has decreased. However, you hearing has to have declined to a certain level to get your percentage raised to 10%, 20% and so on. It takes a BIG change in hearing to increase that percentage at all. Hearing loss is usually just a rating based on your better ear has no difference whether right ear, left ear, or both. So if you have no hearing in one ear and normal hearing in the other they acknowledge you have hearing loss caused by the service but you still get 0% based on your "good" hearing in the one ear.

Basically the VA provides the hearing aids to help you hear. Be happy with that. The hearing aids they provide are usually the top of the line that are available to them. You will usually pay $5000 - $6000 for a pair of hearing aids outside that you get from the VA for free. So it may seem unfair to you that you are not getting money every month since your rating is only 0%, but you are getting the hearing aids taken care of for you for the rest of your life and that is a pretty big deal. A lot of people would really appreciate that help. Think if you couldn't get the hearing aids for free and you either had to pay for them or do without?

What!?

I think they have stop giving disability for service related hearing due to the fact that they issue ear plugs. Not 100% sure on the issue.

This is what you need to do; Get your ears checked from a private doctor. And have him or her give you a letter stating that "it is more likely than not, that your hearing loss was due to you military service." Then submit an appeal through your state VA rep or veterans organization. I did that, and they approved it for my hearing. But you have to get that letter from the private doctor. The VA is great but sometimes the red tape gets in the way. They don't like to fight with private doctors. Good luck.

To get a VA disability for hearing loss, you will have to document that you were exposed to loud noises while in service. Just rifle fire won't cut it though. Now if you were deck crew on the USS New Jersy and exposed to 16 inch gun fire, it's a slam dunk. But your probably only going to get 20%

I was awarded a Prrple Heart for being shot through the right lung. The bullet rests against my spine. I get paralysis that lasts 5 to 15 minutes from the waist down. Also as a result, I have periphial neuropathy that causes my hands to seize up after about an hour of work. I get no disability though the being shot is acknowledged as the cause of all. And I even have to make the co-payments to the VA for care on these problems as well as the co-payments on medications to treat it. Not complaining. I've seen worse, such as another vet that had his face burned off by napalm in Viet Nam. He gets nothing either. VA says while disfiguring, it is not a disability that would keep him from working. But he does get free treatment including ongoing reconstructive surgeries.

But most often hearing loss comes from aging as well as things we do to ourselves. Among other things, riding motorcycles without a helmen will cause hearing loss. It's a matter of rapid air flow into the ear over time.
