STD testing in early & late pregnancy?

Just read in a book last night that some doctors will re-test women towards the end of pregnancy for STD's, including AIDS, even though they were tested in early pregnancy.

How many of your doctors wanted to do re-do this testing?

My doctor doesn't like giving the option of saying no, which is why I ended up being tested in April for all STD's, even though I was just tested about 8 weeks before at my annual exam (for everything other than AIDS). I actually didn't know what some testing was for until after the samples were taken. It was early in pregnancy, before I became insitant on knowning exactly what they were doing, so that won't happen again. :) If I had known the first time around I would have declined, since I was married & just tested a few weeks before, & saved myself over $100 in co-pays. Just want to know how common the re-testing is to see if I'll have to be prepred to decline the 2nd round of testing. Thanks.

My last pregnancy was in '05 and my ob did not REQUIRE any testing. they gave you a questionaire and asked what you wanted to be tested for so it was pretty much the patients choice. Your signature was needed for HIV testing.

i think it's a doctor's opinion to re-test for Stds. some of them can be very endangering to the child's health at birth.
