Okay,my friend went to the doctor to test for AIDS and he was negative. if a person is negative, what do you mean by negative, he has aids or he doesn't have aids.

my guess is that he doesnt have aids... if the doctor knew he had, probably the doctor would've giving him an speech about it, how to protect himself and others...

It means no. But, I will say this, if he (or you, as I suspect) are testing because of a recent sexual encounter, I would retest in 6 months or so. Your local health department administers free tests so don't sweat the costs.

negative means he DOES NOT have the virus that causes AIDS, which means he IS NOT going to get AIDS - at least not this time.

The virus is called HIV. Last I heard the technique for detecting the virus was to detect the antibodies that the body produces to fight the virus. It used to take 3 weeks for the antibodies to appear after infection so it was worthwhile waiting a bit after possible exposure before taking the test. But that was ages ago - I have no idea if the tests are quicker now.

In any case, your friend got good news.

No he does NOT have AIDS, but he should thank his lucky stars and now practice safe sex/not share needles & avoid whatever he did to put himself at risk.

negative of Aids means nothing, nadar, zippo, zilch!! When it comes to aids result negative is a good thing you want to hear.....

Negative means he does not have Aids. If the results were positive then he would Have AIDS.
