Am I right or wrong?

So my boyfriend went to jail in September, and I messed around with this other guy in October and the condom broke I was so stupid to let him take it off and keep going I guess I was just enjoying the moment. since then Ive had normal pap smears. even last month my pap was normal. last week I went for a STD test Aids,gohnorrea,HPV,Syphillis, and all of that stuff. my boyfriend and I never use a condom. I was shocked my first STD, I was devestated. my blood test came back as positive for clyhmida. I approached him with it and he said he hasn't done anything with anybody. I kind of believe him and I feel so stupid. I dont want to tell him about what happened when he was in jail. Is it possible to have a normal pap and still have clyhmidia? Did I get it from the guy I slept with then or from him?

A huge number of women will have no symptoms for chlamydia. You may have had for quite a while, or since October.

It's easy to get rid of though - regular old antibiotics take care of it.

I wanted to clarify something that was said in a post in this thread. OB/GYN's do not automatically test for stds during a pap smear. You need to ask them to test for gonrrhea, syphillis, HIV, chlamydia. If an OB/GYN does std testing with every pap smear - hang on to them - they're doing more than what's required.

A pap smear looks for cell changes - some of which can be caused by HPV. That's the only std a pap smear will detect and the only one OB/GYNs automatically test for.

it's impossible to tell who you got it from, but my guess is the guy you screwed around with. chlamyida can be asymptomatic in women, so you won't know if you got it back in october.

a pap test only looks for signs of HPV (human papilloma virus) but most doctors do a test for chlamydia/gonorrhea at the exact same time. so the pap is said to be normal even if the others come back positive.

you AND your current boyfriend(s) need to get treated and not have sex until the treatment is totally finished.


...consider not dating guys who go to prison.


edit: the standard of care for women in their teens and 20s is G/C testing along with pap smears. so the doctors SHOULD be doing it. but you should ask yours to be sure.

So much going on with this. A lot of women from suspect backgrounds (and if you are sleeping with ex-cons, you are a woman with a suspect background) are infected with Chlamydia but have no symptoms (including a normal pap) but are contagious. This is especially likely if you are black. You have bigger problems however. The prison population has roughly a 50% rate of HIV/AIDS infection. This is due to the overwhelming amount of homosexual sex and intravenous drug use that goes on in there. If he says he wasn't participating, he is, quite frankly, lying. Only the most violent, most vicious murderers in solitary confinement are allowed not to join in on that. STD infections of all sorts are, of course, rampant. Meaning, it is likely you caught it from him. The population that enters jail and prison is already the highest risk in the country before they go in because of the different behaviors they engage in.

Probably the best thing you could do to improve yourself and your life is to go get your STD treated and dump your loser boyfriend. Don't sleep with the scum of society.
