Results of my blood test?

I am 50 yr old female. Last wk my Dr did routine blood exam. He said my white blood cells were down alittle. The low norm is 4 and I am 3. Does anyone have any idea what this means? I don't feel sick and I don't have AIDS. He wants to recheck at the end of this week, HELP I am scared!!!!

Don't be worried right now about it. We say that a normal white blood cell count is between 5 and 10. It will vary depending on many things such as age, size of person, recent illness, and quality of blood sample and testing. More than likely, everything is fine. Go ahead and have it rechecked. More than likely it was a bad sample or you just have a low count. Don't be worred at this point, but do go back to your MD.

I really do not know what going on with your body.

I have a friend with a similar condition; I don't recall what name the doctor gave it, but it boils down to being completely innocuous if this is your NORMAL cell count....as was her case.

She went through 2 months of weekly blood draws and the doc examined all of the possible drug interactions that might be going on (she's on a few different medications), so that might be one source for it.

Unless the doctor can find a definitive reason for the low count, don't worry too much. Its one of the reasons they call it "practicing" medicine...because no two people are exactly the same....you may be like my friend with an unusually low - but normal for her - blood count.
