I have a deep problem. I'm gay and live in semi-rural Tx......no resources around here. What can I do?

As I said, I live in a semi-rural area in Tx......the "Bible belt".
There are no places to go to, of ANY kind, having to do with the GLBT community. The nearest community of this type is in Dallas.....but that's roughly about 40 miles away from where I live.

The point is, around where I live, there are no GLBT resources, period. The ONLY place having to do with this community is a gay bar, in a town, about 10-15 miles, from where I live.........but that's it. There are no OTHER bars around, no GLBT counseling centers, no AIDS-testing clinics SPECIFICALLY for the GLBT community, no gay churches, no
GLBT community centers and the list goes on and on.
That stinks.

But you know, in a way, this IS surprising because a few people around my area that I've talked to have told me that there are quite a FEW GLBT people in my area. So, you think that there would be at least SOME resources for the GLBT community.

The question I have is this: who do I turn to about this?
Need help!

Why don't you move? Does your employer have other branches of the company, where you might apply?

I faced this problem in a small town in Louisiana.

It's a problem. You're stuck with two choices: 1) Deal with the lack of resources and maybe try to start a GLBT organization yourself, or 2) Move. Moving isn't always an option and usually not a good one even if possible. But in the long run, I have a feeling your personal life would fare better if you did move, unless you get lucky and find someone by accident locally to settle down with.

Ahh the Bible Belt. I feel for you, buddy.

You can't fish in the desert. My suggestion is move to where their is actually a pond, or die of starvation (I felt like writing an analogy! =p)!

Seeing as I am unfamiliar with the Texas area Idk what specifically to tell you. I can only suggest that whatever you decide to do be safe in doing so. It would be sad hearing about someone getting hurt or worse, taking advice that we gave them. So again be careful and good luck.

I would move to Dallas.

I would move to San Francisco or to the east coast. You're in fly-over land!
