Home pregnancy test failure?

My girlfriend started having pregnancy symptoms 3 weeks ago.. Everything from fatigue, back pain, frequent urination, darkening of the areolas, spotting... every symptom i have read online, she has had..

she has taken 3 home pregnancy tests in 1 week (2 first response, 1 rite aid comparable to ept) and all 3 have been negative.. We have an appointment on thursday with the Dr. to get a blood test, but i was just wondering....

How many other people out there have had negative results with multiple home tests, but a positive blood test??

If i did my math right i calculate her right now to be at 7 weeks pregnant. So there should be more than enough HCG to show up on a home test.... are they effective for everybody?

It is actually very common to get multiple negative home tests, and still be pregnant. It takes a while for the hCg to get into the urine to get a positive result. Plus, it could be that she ovulated later in her cycle than normal.

However, if she is 3 weeks past her missed period, either she is pregnant, or something else is wrong. Go to your appointment on Thursday, and see what the doctor has to say. If it's not pregnancy, you need to find out what is going on.

it is possible to have a negative result with several tets and still be pregnant. The pregnancy test tests the urine for a hormone that is only released when you are pregnant. So it is possible that she is pregnant and just not releasing enough of the hormone for it to be detected. Another thing is if she is on hormone replacement pills the test could read wrong.

Im doubting she is pregnant....3 negatives? plus most of those symptoms would come much later in pregnancy. Not saying its not possible but doubtful. She should still see a dr f she has not had a period.

My SIL didn't get a positve until 8 weeks, preceeded by 5 or 6 negatives(only days prior). It is very possible to get a false negative at 7 weeks as HCG levels jump dramatically sometime soon.

Read the side of the boxes and get an early detection test, they are more sensitive. I did this with my current pregnancy because I kept getting extremely faint positives.
