I have a friend who has a question about AIDS? |
My friend recently had sexual relations with a girl who's past partner was thought (not a hundred percent) to have AIDS it's just a rumor but that kinda gotta him kinda frightened. IF this person had the virus, how long does it take for the virus to show up on a test if he went in for a STD test? Any suggestion would be very helpful. Thanks HIV can take from 3 to 6 months to show up. It is important to tell the clinic doctor that you are worried about HIV as the test will not routinely be carried out without prior counselling. Okay your friend should go and get tested now and then get tested every six months. Use condoms it only takes as long as the virus takes to get into the bloodstream... I would say half an hour. By the way..... GO GET TESTED!!!!!!!!( a "friend", I mean really come on :) go get urself tested) Your friend needs to be tested asap and over the next couple of years. If your friend is having sex with people without using a condom he should have a blood test done right away. It will take a couple of weeks for the results. After that go for another test in a month or so just to be sure. It is always a bit frightening when you get tested, the waiting period is always hard but you will be glad you did. Not every contact with a positive person will give you HIV but sex without a condom these days is taking a chance with your life. Tell your friend to always carry condoms with him. Always OK? You never know when opportunity will happen and it`s best to be prepared. It could take up to 6 months for the antibodies to show up. But most show up within 3 months. Acute HIV infection may be associated with symptoms resembling mononucleosis or the flu within 2 to 4 weeks of exposure. HIV seroconversion (converting from HIV negative to HIV positive) usually occurs within 3 months of exposure. There is what we call a window period of six months. Only then the virus can be detected. After 6 months. First of all, immune system is everything. How god does he has his immune system? if he has A blood type, he should work harder for his immune system. The test result in influenced by this immune system. But a high lymphocites and all white cells type numbers might be some good indicators that the virus is there, but to decide if it is +, doctors have a set of diagnosis. It may take 6 months or longet to arrive into + result. This DNA ( aids virus is very smart). Go get checked out, don't wait, don't ask these questions, don't guise your problem as a friends. Get him checked out, get her checked out, whoever, just get to a ******* doctor, alright? No need to die from embarassment. about 6 months. hope your friend isn't infected. good luck HIV ( Human immunodeficiency virus) causes HIV infection which destroys the person's ability to fight infection. From the time of exposure, it could take approximately 3 months for the person to become HIV negative to positive. It could take up to 10 years before a person starts developing symptoms but he/she can still transmit the virus to others. My suggestion, use condoms everytime. Get tested and communicate with your physician. It takes at least 30 days (in rare cases 3 months and in even rarer cases 6 months) for the HIV virus to show up on the test. I would say test after that 30 days and again after the 6 month mark to ensure 100% accuracy. Remember, any unprotected sexual activity during that time start the timeline over if you are looking for 100% accuracy. |
