What kind of blood test should I ask for?

I often think I have many problems with me as in Aids, Diabetes, other crazy things I don't know why I think of this stuff I am only 17 years old. I think it was due to my poor lifestyle at ages of 14-16. I have kinda grew out of this.

But I am going to the doctor for a blood test...which blood test should I ask for?

I want to make sure my heart is fine, I dont have diabetes, I dont have aids, I dont have any infections, my blood circulation is fine. What blood test has the most things possible that they can check for which can basically prove to me that I am a normal person and don't have anything wrong with me.

There is no blood test that can prove to you that you are a normal person.

All medical tests have false positives and false negatives. They will sometimes miss diseases that are there and sometimes they will indicate diseases that aren't there. MOSTLY they are quite good at telling doctors one thing or another.

In order to make sure your heart is fine you should do the following:
- quit smoking - avoid illicit drugs, minimize caffeine and alcohol
- maintain a healthy weight range - including diet, exercise
- see your doctor and request a physical examination if you feel that is what is needed to assure you

Your doctor might arrange an ElectroCardioGraph (ECG - or EKG if you are in the USA) to examine your heart further, and possibly other tests if they become necessary.

The last thing an anxiety-prone patient like yourself will need is a specific blood test and a wild goose chase trying to find something that isn't there.

Blood tests don't test for anxiety, by the way.

just ask for a through blood test and i want to know if im healthy and they'll check for everything not just something specific

ask your doctor. he knows(the 'Count' ALWAYS knows). (But I would be wary of taking blood from the neck.)

Just let your doctor know your concerns. He will tell you what blood tests to take. That's what they are there for.

Ask for a full physical and quit being such a hypochondriac.

It sounds like you have some anxiety. Get a full blood count it will cover most everything. Maybe get counseling for the stress of you thinking you are dying/hurting.

I would suggest you tell your doctor your concerns related to all of the things you mentioned and he/she will take care of ordering the tests.

Ask for everything that applies to you, don't agree to the pregnancy tests though.

There is no one test that is going to cover all of these things. Testing for diabetes requires, at a minimum, a glucose tolerance test or a series of finger prick tests to monitor blood sugar. Aids testing is it's own test. Some STD's can be picked up on blood tests, some require other testing. Talk to your doctor about your concerns and the reasons behind them, and let the doctor determine which tests are necessary.

Just ask your doctor for a full on physical. Check your iron level, blood sugar level..usually taken if you're diabetic, cholesterol etc. Your doctor would know best or at least I'd hope so. Peace. 鈽?/div>

First, only the doctor can order the tests and he will only order them if he feels they are necessary. Insurance companies don't like to pay for unnecessary tests. A chemistry panel will give you the most information but will not tell you if your blood cells are normal. For that you need a complete blood court (CBC). To check your heart, you need another, more expensive blood test. At 17, a doctor will rarely order this one (CK and Troponin). You need to write down all the symptoms you have been having and take it with you to your doctor's appointment. He will then decide what tests are needed.

A normal blood test will consist seven tubes collections, ten tubes for pregnant women in their tri semester so Doctor could know how the baby is so far or if the mother has Aids.Red with brown stripes tubes could read up to 30 test for blood one reading could be to detect Aids. Lavender tubes could reads white and red cells counts to detect infections. Red tube detects what type of blood are you like A , B, AB or O. negative or positive and detects drugs in your system a MD prefers this method rather than peeing in the cup.
Urine samples are needed for pregnancy, STD and drug test. I suggest you to test yourself just to know you are safe because a S.T.D could cause infertility.

Ask for CBC, CMP with Lipids, hemoglobin A1c, tests an insurance company would do if you applied for life insurance.

You don't have to tell doctors what test to take. Only doctors tell you what tests are necessary. So you don't have to worry about that.
