Blood test while pregnant?

ok i know they do test on ur blood when pregnant, but what does it test 4? I know aids, but what else. Will they be able to tell if anything is wrong? Do they do a blood count etc...?

Gestational diabetes, high blood pressure, RH factor...and alot of other things is what they test for!

they can't tell birth defects {certain ones} through the blood but they can tell if you have elevated levels if something is wrong.

They will do this periodically through your pregnancy!!!Don't worry it is for the baby's sake

stds, sugar levels, liver levels etc... basically anything that may affect your health or the baby's health

they test you for all std's, check your iron levels, check your HCG levels, they test everything, your body is the most vulnerable while pregnant. Iron is particularly important. They should be able to tell you more if you want to know when you get it done, and your gp can tell you also

One thing they check is your blood platelet count...I know cause mine was low.

they should have explained it to you. when i was pregnant they tested my thyroid level. because if it's low that could harm the baby. good thing they did because i had hypothyroidism

They tested my blood for all of the normal things, but also to have a first glimpse if the baby had down syndrom, amazing but yest they can tell through the blood, then they confirm the results with the ultrasound. Later you get tested for a type of Strep but that is a swab test not blood.

The test your urine for sugar and things like that every time you go in. I only had two blood tests during the whole time.
