If you are married, should you still get tested for AIDS?

Hi, we are trying to raise awareness of this issue. Would you please review the clip, post it and share it. Then post feedback at the you tube site.
This is a very important issue. The film makers and producers had a lot of obstacles put in their way, and didn't receive a lot of sponsorship, due to the subject matter. Ignoring it, however will not make it go away, obviously.

Hell YES, YES, and a triple YES!!!

Why you ask? Because in today's time of dealing with the sexual health issue, you don't know what you've come across and this kind of question affects us all. However, let me explain my side as to why this is important.

I was molested when I was younger by a family member (don't need to know all of the details!!!) and I went thru foster care and had my teenage issues.

When I became an adult, after aging out of the system, I did carve out a life for me. Not having had positive role models, all I knew was negativity in my family tree. I encountered some characters in my lifetime. These were individuals that were different than I was in terms of education, socioeconomic and personality levels. These individuals weren't positive either, they brought me STDs on a number of occasions. No, luckily, it didn't involve my health or any referrals to the county health dept., just antibiotics.

The last STD I got was back in '03, from my now husband. Again, antibiotics.

The bottom line is this, I've been taking the AIDS test, for quite along time, ever since it first came out. I make that a part of my physical health routine. My rationale is this, I know what I've been doing, however, I don't know what my prior exes was doing back in the day. All I know is that viruses can lie dormant in your body for years and we don't even know it. So, I don't have to worry about being promiscuous, that was NEVER my style. However, I don't know what these individuals exposed me to back then. I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I'd recommend that others get tested till the day you die, I am. I'm a 40ish Latina female in Los Angeles.

P.S. Can you please answer why the question was directed at married couples only? This is a question that should have been directed at anyone, regardless of your marital status.

AIDS is a universal health problem, that my wish would be to find a cure sometime in the near future, that would be eradicated by all means.

only if u feel ur partner is being unfaithful...

otherwise its a waste of money and time that could be on people who actually do, or possibly do have aids... its like taking cold medication when u dont need it... why waste ur time and someone else's when it could be used for someone who needs it?

theres no reason to be tested unless u or ur partner is seeing other people. but if tahts the case, why even be married?

Why not it is an important issue

The only reason to be tested is if you are or have switched partners. If you are married and you think your spouse has cheated on you and brought home an STD, you have far more issues then just being tested. I would say in that case test before you move on to someone else. If you feel you're spouse isn't cheating then no reason to be tested.

Sounds like a very good movie. I'd go see it if it plays here in Nashville. And yes, I think Aids testing is OK whether you are single or married.

I believe everyone should get tested if they have been in a unfaithful marriage and you're trying to create a baby, it's certainly unfair to bring a new life into this world without a clean bill of health.

The clip is rather confusing, but to answer your question, no.Why would you feel the need to get tested without some reason after marriage? You should get tested before you have sex with the person that you plan to have sex with and then wait for the results. That being said, I don't really think you're going to see much change in that direction in today's society, at least not in America. We are a "want it now, get it now" society and we are constantly dealing with "after effects" rather than "heading things off at the pass". It's really sad. I think I know what you are trying to get across, but the way you are doing it isn't going to work (and that is assuming that anything will). Good luck with your project. I would back you if you were more specific as to what it is you're trying to accomplish. Your clips don't help.
