Can anyone recommend any books similar to Tom Wolfe's The Electric Kool-aid Acid Test?

I am looking for some good, interesting journalism. Perhaps something more recent.

Hunter S Thomson - particularly Fear and Loathing... and Hells Angels. Gonzo Journalism as it came to be known.
and some of William Burroughs more straightforward accounts of his life, such as Junky.

Only Tom Wolfe writes books like Tom Wolfe. The man is a phd in American Studies possibly the most american voice in literature. I've read thousands of classics and contemporaries but only he has that journalistic style.

Well this isn't more recent but Ed Sanders' book on the Manson family and the Tate - LaBianca murders, The Family, is a great read. One might thing one of the Fugs, a 60's band from NYC would have some sympathy for Manson, I suppose, but Sanders shows them in all their evilness. Helter Skelter, the book by prosecutor, Vincent Bugliosa covers the same material but Sanders is much more gritty.
