Exactly how many years of testing should I get for aids to be clear of it.? |
I have had unprotected sex before with my now ex-husband. But i am not for sure how many years of testing i need before I am clear of it. I have read some where that it can show up years later and that bothers me. So i am now looking for that year to come where i dont have to pay over 200.00dollars to get tested. And yes i know how to use a condom if i am involved again and to also get my next mate tested. Even though i have decided to not have sex with anyone since this aids stuff can pop up later on and the next mate might just have a negative test at the MOMENT. Anyone know the exact amount of years before I can say I'm clear of it. All my test so far have been negative. Its been over 3 years so far. my ex never tested postive. Hi! Sometimes nurses don't know everything. I'm saying this because I'm a nurse, and I often feel that people think I know everything there is to know about anything medical, and I don't. =) Report It All you needed is one year. And you do not have to pay for it. There are a billion free clinics that will do testing in the interest of public health. They say at least 1 year before you can be certain... is your ex husband diagnosed with it? If not then chances are highly probable that you don't have it. Do you just suspect that he may have been unfaithful or do you know for sure? Did he get tested? All of these questions have to be answered before I can give you a good answer. you can't. sorry hun, but aids is yours forever. there is no cure for it as of now and no matter how many times you test for it, you will always be aid positive. sorry. There is no set amount of time for the HIV virus can show up in your blood. More than likely, if you've tested negative for three years, you don't have it. However, HIV testing is a great thing to do at least once every year, for your protection as well as others. And I don't know where you are going that you have to pay $200.00/test. Even if you go to a planned parenthood or other organization, you can get them for $50 or $75. Good luck and be safe!! 6 yrs since the time you were active with the man that had the disease. My sister had the same problem and you seem to be taking the proper precautions. I don't think you have anything to worry about. I got tested for HIV 10 years ago and the clinic told me that the virus that causes AIDS is detectable 6 months after exposure. If you had protected sex everytime you've had sex for the last 3 years then you don't have it and you won't get it. |
