The availability of OraQuick-Advanced varies by city. Some testing locations in California charge for this type of test, but there are many locations that will provide the test for free. For testing locations, you can call the California HIV/AIDS Hotline at 1-800-367-AIDS or you can do your own referral search by visiting www.aidshotline.org.

There's an organization called "Magnet" on 18th Street in the Castro that provides rapid HIV testing with same-day results. Their website (shown below) lists the hours during which they do this testing, and it also lists other sites that perform this service when Magnet is closed.

Magnet promotes itself as an LGBT community service provider, but they certainly don't discriminate -- you can get the testing for free regardless of your sexual orientation.
