Should AIDS testing be mandatory?

Give reasons why or why not, please.

In the 50's syphilis testing was mandatory as a blood test demanded before a wedding. You could not get a civil marriage license for your wedding to be conducted in a church or by a judge or JP without having to had the paper with the results of this test. You had to have the test 5 days before your wedding day... The results of an old test was not acceptable... it had to be current to the wedding... so if you had to have this test in the 1950's I don't see why the AIDS test could not be made mandatory too... If it means maintaining our national health... AIDS testing should be mandatory of all 18 year olds as a requirement for entrance from high school into college... I would not mind taking the test...

yes, ppl are lazy and careless. most dont give a s.hit it seems and the std problem in our country is growing and growing. it should never have been said get tested its your responsibility because a lot of scum bags are alll fa q im not doing squat.

In every Pregnancy just like HIV and hep it should be done
in the blood work.That way you know or the doctors know what or how to treat you while your pregnant.

If your job may cause your bodily fluids to get in contact with someone...then yes for yourself and others.
If blood dries up and then gets wet again the virus will reanimate.

No it should not. A persons health should be their own personal business. Once you start making health tests compulsory you are heading down a slippery slope and at the end of it is a society like Gattaca.

The only good reason for knowing would be to protect people sexually. But that's not really a good reason because if people thought they were definitely AIDS/HIV free they might be less careful. HIV can take a while to show up and you could be infecting others while thinking you were safe, but really you were just not testing positive yet.

No AIDS testing should not be mandatory. It will only serve to open the door to even more discrimination than what already exists - from the general public to the insurance companies. I lived in Indiana when Ryan White's battle with AIDS became public. He was shunned by his community.. he had to leave school, awful things were said about him and he was a child.

People need education not a watchdog.

No. Although I believe the web would be a great place to educate people.
