What do you do when you suspect that your domestic worker has aids and she needs to look after your children.?

My domestic worker is cronicly ill. At least ones a month she gets the flue or some other illness. Beacause of this my baby is sick most of the time. We take him to the docter at least ones a month. Most of the time he has the flue or its his tongsels.

I told her to get a aids test and give us the results as soon as possible. I feel this is in the best interest for my children, for I also have a 7 Year old boy which became ill since the day he started to stay home in the afternoons. He previously went to a cresch.
Am I over reacting or not?

You can ask for a medical certificate from her. Any body working with children needs to have a clean bill of health and clear of any transmissible diseases.

AIDS or not, if she is chronically ill and making your children ill, you should find someone else.

Whether she is HIV positive or not I wouldnt be happy having a help who was always sick...not with babies around....give her some notice to find another job though.

If my childcare provider were always ill, I'd probably try to find someone different. I'd hardly say that just because she's often ill, she has AIDS though. And to be quite honest with you, if a childcare worker had AIDS and was a great childcare provider, I wouldn't hesitate to let them watch my children. You can't get AIDS from touching someone, or changing diapers, or just being a babysitter in general.

you are not over reacting.you should be concerned with her health.she is taking care of your baby.nowadays it is better to get a house girl who has been tested.there are soo many diseases out there you cant risk.

I don't know if sending her for an AIDS test is the first thing I would do. But I think I would tactfullly ask her to see a doctor to take care of her cronical illness, if this didn't calm me down I would make something up about being paranoid and wanting anyone in contact with my kids to take some blood test. Just make it sound like you know you're over reacting (even if you don't think you are).

I would find somebody else. It doesn't matter whether or not she has aids, if she is constantly making your children ill then you have to look out for what's best for your kids.
