Should prostitutes with AIDs, positive drug test, or STD's get stiffer sentences?

Should prostitutes with AIDs, positive drug test, or STD's get stiffer sentences?

yes, and no. Aids and STD's and other transferrable diseases, yes, they should get prosecuted as attempted murder or at minimum assult with a deadly weapon. Positive drug tests, no, they don't affect the individual they are with.

yes

Absolutely. Especially in the case of AIDS. Even if they don't know they have AIDS, they are still responsible for the effects of spreading it, so the "I didn't know I had it" argument should be invalid as well.

I would honestly have to say no. Being that only one state has legal prositution, and that state has very high regulations on STD checks and monitoring and has a very low occurance of transmission from prostitutes, it seems that in the case where it is controlled it is not that much of a danger. In all other states, wheres its illegal, someone chooses to go to an illegal prostitute. Therefore they choose to take those risks. If there wasn't someone soliciting for illegal sex in the first place, there would be no prostitues, with std's or otherwise.

If she is knowingly trying to spread it then yes but you would have to produce intent. And what about the people going to a prostitute? should they not have any responsibility for their actions. I think that by participating in that you are knowingly endangering yourself, that should also come into play.

If the object is to control AIDS and other STDs then the best solution would be to legalize prostitution.

For example, in Los Angeles, where prostitution is illegal, about half of all prostitutes are estimated to be infected with AIDS.

In the Nevada brothels, where it is legal and regulated, they have regular monthly tests for HIV and they have never had a case of it. Similar results are found in Europe where it is legal and regulated -- rates of disease are much, much lower than most places in the US.
