Can they test for aids with saliva or do they need to take blood? |
Can they test for aids with saliva or do they need to take blood? a blood test blood. It is a bloodborne pathogen transmissible only by blood and secretions (excluding saliva and sweat) They can detect the antibody in your saliva, it's called an oral fluid test. I run the test at work all the time. And it's the antibody to the virus, not the virus itself. That's what they test for in blood as well, the antibody. yes but they don't use saliva, they use skin cells off your cheek. Check out the gay community in your city the gay community is more progressive with this than straight clinics. they need to take blood. aids can't be transmitted by saliva, but it can be transmitted by blood. so they need to take blood to test for aids. it needs blood work, u dont get aids fron saliva. Blood is the only accurate way to test for AIDS. HIV/Aids can only be found in incredibly small amounts in the saliva, they'll need blood. To my knowledge,as AIDS is a blood-borne disease,it would be required to take a blood sample. It is possible to detect HIV antibodies in both saliva and blood. Talk to your local health department or your personal physician. listen to the microbiologist, not the other people whenever i have gotten tested at the lil aids society place here they have always taken the swab and swabbed my cheek. i go about every 6 months becaues that makes me so paranoid!!!! i dont want to get anything so always checking to make sure..... ya never know. so no they dont need to take blood, but sometimes do that as well. |
