After you take a test for AIDS how long does it take for the results to come back? ...do they take blood?

At Planned Parenthood, you can get an HIV test where they have you rub a swab around on the inside of your cheek.

It goes to a lab, and I think in a few days, Planned Parenthood calls you or you call them, you make an appointment to come back, and they tell you the results.

It is not painful, it is fast, and you just have to make the time to go there twice.

They charge based on your income level as well.

I think it is worth it.

Also, it is anonymous in the sense that your health insurance would not find out the results if you go to Planned Parenthood and pay for it yourself.

Well first you have to take more than one test, and you cant have sex during the testing period... and if you are dating someone, you guys have to be faithful for the duration of the testing. First you take a test, then you wait two months, then take another test, and wait two more months, and then take the last test for a definiative answer. And yes, since the disease is found in the bloodstream, they take blood.

Yes they do take blood, its not so bad though and the results can take about one to two weeks. While the wait might seem bad, not knowing is even worse.

There are blood tests, but the Rapid HIV test gives answers in under a half an hour, and it uses a saliva sample (the nurse swabs the inside of your mouth for a sample). If the test comes back positive, you will need to be tested a different way to verify teh results, possibly the blood test, but that is unnecessary without the Rapid HIV test first, which is painless and easy.
