I'm 16 and wanted to know do I have to have a parent when taking a aids test?

I'm 16 and wanted to know do I have to have a parent when taking a aids test?

go to an anonymous testing clinic and they absolutely will not tell anyone or need a parent. It's free. If you need more information, check out www.plannedparenthood.com

Check with your local Planned Parenthood. They're everywhere, and very discrete. They offer a wide range of std related services. If it is not against the law in your area, they will give you one

It might depend on what state you live in. In Oregon where I live you don't need to. There are local clinics all over now that are low cost and are confidential. Even if the person is your mom or dad the clinic cannot share any information without written consent from you. Ask your health care provider if indeed you need a parent there. Chances are you wont need one at all.

the doctor has aids home testing that you can do your self.

Probably not. Even if laws wherever you live say you need a parent, there is almost certainly a public service or STD clinic that will offer free "anonymous" testing services. Anonymous testing means they give you a number instead of taking your name and you can be tested for free no matter who you are. (Home and instant tests are available but aren't as accurate as 2-week blood tests.)

I'm not sure but like someone stated, it depends on what your state laws are. I would think that it would be totally confidential, so you should not need a parent with you. Try a local AIDS Ctr. for free testing or a County free clinic.

p.s.

whom ever the test is for i hope the results are (-)neg and they start using protection not only should they be concern about HIV but there are other STD's as well to be concernd about.

No it is all 100% confidential. All you need is a doctor to order the test or you can go to a free clinic like planned parenthood.

absolutely not. they will keep everything anonamous
