Has anyone heard about the government wanting to make it mandatory for everyone to take an aids test?

I heard about this yesterday on the radio they want everyone from ages 14 -84 to take an aids test yearly. And I was wanting to find out were I can get more info on this because I have a research paper that I think I might do on this topic if I can find enough info on it. If anyone knows where I can find info please let me know.

I know that for years now there has been legislature passed and then revoked for manditory AIDS testing in the US for people in high risk areas, ie. prostitutes, drug abusers, health care workers, etc. But I dont' believe it has yet officially passed. A few months ago I read where Bill Clinton wanted mandatory testing for high risk countries...I don't know what came of it though. Here is the article if you want to read it.

If you have a baby now at my docs office you have to have an HIV test done. I don't mind, I am sure there are some people out there who may not want to know, or don't want their docs to know.

This might be a tough topic to research, but very interesting to see where you end up with it, which means it will make a good paper. Maybe you could also research the benefits of finding out early, going through the painful treatment for it and feeling that the energy and joy has been removed from your life because the treatments are so exhausting vs. not finding out until you are very ill, yet you had lived a happy life until then, without the painful treatement. Either way, you end up dying eventually, right?

It's an interesting debate. Like I said, I wonder where in the spectrum you will end up when finished.

I dont think that will ever happen or be seriously suggested by the government.

Really? If to be believed, for once the government seem to be doing something right.
As there doesn't seem to be any more info out there to support your question, it's more than likely not true, governments aren't that clever to think up such a good idea as a mandatory aids test.

From what I understand, that was just for DC, and I think it sucks. They have no right to do this, it smacks of McCarthyism. Their intentions may be good, but it's a witch hunt and an invasion of privacy.
