I just want to know if there is a big number of aids transmission heterosexually than homosexually.?

anyone who doesnt use protection no matter your sexual prefrence can get aids or any std. i think the numbers are the same a lot of ppl out there think they wont get anything and dont take the time to protect yourself. even if you know the person WELL use it anyway. you just never know anymore

It is prevalent and rampant through both. That's why protection is required for both groups. It is on the rise for people under the age of 30 and oddly those over 60. I read an article about it in women's health magazine about 7 or 8 months ago.

you can get it both ways. the easiest way being by anal sex which, to answer your question, is done by more homosexual men than hetro

1. "In the United States, sexual contact is believed to be the only risk factor for 8,374 (64%) of the 13,061 AIDS cases among adults reported to CDC as of September 16, 1985. These sexual-contact cases include 8,241 homosexual or bisexual men with no other known risk factors for infection and 133 heterosexual men and women." The remaining transmissions are by IV drug users.

2. A more up-to-date report. "The adult prevalence rate in this region [North America] is 0.7% with over 1 million people currently living with HIV. In the United States, sex between men (35%), heterosexual sex (19%) and needle sharing by intravenous drug users (15%) remain prominent sources of new HIV infections. Currently, rates of HIV infection in the US occur the most often on the eastern and southern regions, with the exception of California. Currently, between 35,000 to 40,000 new infections occur in the USA every year. AIDS is one of the top three causes of death for African American men aged 25鈥?4 and for African American women aged 35鈥?4 years in the United States of America. In the United States, African Americans make up about 47% of the total HIV-positive population and make up more than half of new HIV cases, despite making up only 12% of the population."

3. "The World Health Organization estimates that heterosexual transmission has accounted for 75% of the HIV infections in adults world-wide."
