My 70 yr father has renal failure and must have dialysis 3 times a week. How do we him get financial aid? |
I was told there is a federal program that pays all costs involved but, I have been searching all day and just can not find one. By the way, he resides in California, and also owns a small cafe. The expense of the dialysis and other diabetes related expenses even with Medicare is out of his financial ability to continue with the treatments! Please help us. Medicare denied him additional aid because he has $3000.00 in the bank! This is absolutely DISGUSTING! If he's a veteran he can get treatment at the VA. try the salvation army assistance programs, i believe they have help. At 70, he should qualify for medicaid. Try this document. Good luck, and don't worry - there is help out there. A lot of states have special kidney healthcare assistance programs, including transportation to dialysis and other financial stuff. Ask anyone you know who works for your state about it, or call your state senator/congressperson. They actaully do return phone calls on occasion, lol He needs a supplemental to medicade. The money in the bank will be soon gone, so he should qualify. Don't wait another day to sign him up. Try to find the social worker who works for the hospital. Mine provided me with invaluable program information that provided financial support, regardless of income levels. |
