Just another day in paradise? No, occupied Palestine, Nov 22-28th 2007?

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF):

-- killed 11 Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank; one victim was extra-judicially assassinated; two others were killed by banned flechette shells that propel metal fragments on detonation for maximum destructive effect against human targets; an Israeli Air Force raid killed another five Palestinians in Gaza early Saturday and wounded eight others as part of its regular terror-inflicting operations the IDF complements with savagery on the ground;

-- wounded 28 Palestinians, including four children and an Israeli human rights defender; prevented ambulances from reaching victims to provide medical aid and transport to hospitals; one or more victims bled to death as a result;

-- conducted 12 incursions into the West Bank and two into Gaza; targeted in the West Bank were al-Bireh and the neighboring al-Am'ari refugee camp; Ramallah; Jenin town and refugee camp; Azzoun village, east of Qalqilya; and Nablus and neighboring Balata and Ein Beit al-Maa refugee camps; Gaza targets included al-Shouka village, east of Rafah; in all cases, civilians were victimized;

-- conducted air strikes at locations in Gaza including against the Palestinian naval police in Khan Yunis and Hamas' Izziddin al-Qassam Brigades military wing;

-- arrested 30 Palestinian civilians in the West Bank plus 12 in Gaza making the total number of arrests this year 2476 in the West Bank; year to date Gaza arrests weren't reported but may be comparable in number to the West Bank; as many as 12,000 Palestinians are in Israeli prisons under deplorable conditions, most are uncharged under administrative detention, and Israeli human rights organization B'Tselem estimates 85% of them are subjected to torture or abuse; Israel continues making more unreported illegal arrests than the number of prisoners theatrically released; most are near the end of their unjustified sentences;

-- destroyed one house and razed 7 donums (about 2 acres) of agricultural land in Beit Hanoun in northern Gaza;

-- destroyed buildings and factories in the Gaza Erez industrial zone that remained after others there were destroyed earlier;

-- allowed one patient to die because she was denied access to treatment outside Gaza;

-- continued construction of the illegal annexation wall in the West Bank on seized Palestinian land;

-- used force to disperse peaceful demonstrations protesting the wall's construction in Bal'eom village, west of Ramallah, and al-Ma'sara, south of Bethlehem;

-- continued illegal West Bank settlement activities;

-- allowed Israeli settlers to continue attacking Palestinian civilians and their property; attacks also injured 13 Palestinian civilians traveling in a minibus;

-- continued to violently beat Palestinians attempting to bypass checkpoints to enter Jerusalem; this happens mostly on Fridays when they wish to pray at the al-Aqsa Mosque;

-- seized the homes of three Palestinian families for use as military sites; and

-- Israeli settlers attacked a Hebron school causing damage; they broke windows, uprooted trees, demolished walls and tried to burn down the building; Settlers also attacked a private home; they set fires, broke windows and damaged a car and barnyard; in both instances, IDF forces were nearby but didn't intervene as they almost never do in situations like this so settlers can freely terrorize Palestinian civilians.

To jamand, if there were any incursions w/commencing Nov 22 you would have heard about it ....?

Well said! At last someone who doesn't swallow the spoon fed disinformation we get from the media. If a suicide bomber blows up an Israeli target, be it military or civilian, it is labelled a terrorist attack. If the Israeli army blows up an unarmed refugee camp or a suspected Hamas stronghold, it is labelled part of the war on terror. The Palestinians are far from blameless in that whole sorry mess, but I don't recall them massacring refugee camps full of women and children, resulting in the deaths of thousands (Jenin 2002, Sabra & Chatila 1982), or bulldozing houses with the occupants still inside.
Possible glimpses of peace such as the agreement between Hamas & the Palestinian authority not to use suicide bombers been wiped out deliberately by Israeli assassinations of leading Hamas figures, such as the killing of Mahmud Abu Hunud in November 2001. This was carried out to deliberately provoke the inevitable suicide bomber reprisal, and provide the excuse needed to destroy Arafat's power base and his credibility with waves of missile attacks on his houses,offices, and other Palestinian targets.
Israel does not want peace, it wants Palestine removed from the map and from history. The myth about Israel being a plucky little state stemming the tide of Arab invasion will one day be burst

and people on here really wonder why the palestinians and Muslim are pissed off blows me away,
Thanks for your summary of events hope a lot of people read it

And - it's your business WHY?

You seem to forget all the incursions by Palestinians into Israel - rockets killing innocent people. etc etc etc

Unfotunately, like most PC brigade types - you only view one aspect of a case - time is irrelevant - it has happened.

Mind your own business or become a politician and decide who and who not to bomb or attack.

Added: That's fine - put a thumbs down - it does not alter the facts - Israel attacks Palestinians - Palestinians attack Israel - your one sided viewpoint only proves that you have this one sided view and cannot accept others opinions or the obvious.

Added YET AGAIN - READ THE POST PROPERLY - I stated that 'TIme is irrelevant - it has happened' - the dates do NOT matter - These peoples do not want peace - they hate each other and will continue to attack each other UNTIL and only WHEN - BOTH sides accept each other - I notice that you don't mention the intervention of Iran or the influence they pose in Palestine - 'Wipe out the Israeli's' etc etc. You have a one sided view to the whole conflict - so let me put it simply - If I attack you - you defend yourself - You attack me, I defend myself. The bottom line is - your rant is not going to stop what is an inherent problem. Nor are my views.

I'm not saying it is right - what I'm saying is - open your eyes and see it from both perspectives. Can you deny incursions by Palestinians into Israel, killing Israeli's - the answer is NO

Added for the umpteenth time - SO, when did Israel send a NUKE into Palestine - now you are showing a certain desperation to prove your point - secondly, stones?? STONES??? Hmmmm! so where did they get all the AK47 Assault rifles then - I wonder.

Again - think about things before you comment - see things from both sides. THen think long and hard about the people you are supporting that allow their citizens to go into public places and blow up innocent Israeli men, women and children - Oh! I'm sorry - you forget that bit - very convenient of you.

YOU SEE - not so cut and dried is it???

Its terrible.

God Bless you

Israel is doing the EXACT same thing hitler did to the jews, and I wonder why some people deny the holocaust

bad **** happens worldwide all the time. What we must do as the US, which we are well on the road to accomplishing, is to distance ourselves from Israel and recognize Palestine...so we are not viewed as biased. That will divert hatred from us to Israel, as it should logically follow.

One big Nuclear bomb right in he middle of the place should just do the trick, then tomorrow it would be nice and peaceful

It`s awful and it goes on day after day in every corner of the world!
The fighting never stops.
The killing goes on and on.
The torture and fear are a part of every day life for most of the world.
BUT until leaders sit back and start listening, we cannot stop it.
AND it`s not about sides is it?!
If it is......... there will never be any winners.

Very interesting, if grim, reading, thank you, and I'm just thinking of, to me, the supremely ironic involvement of Blair in this hellish mess, i strongly suspect pigs will indeed fly, before our ex PM goes anyway to making any impact with regards to peace in the region, what a (black) joke indeed.

You know being a Palestinian is not easy but by saying everything is Israel's fault you deny your share of the guilt. People from Palestine have been killing Israeli's right along with Israeli's killing Palestinians. They also use methods that are aimed at killing the innocent. Suicide bombers that go into pizza parlors or on buses are not going to kill soldiers they are going to kill women and children. So who is right? Palestinians deserve to have a homeland and so do the Jews. Historically these two peoples have always lived right where they are, so how to work things so these two groups can live together as they have always done? I don't have the answer. The pain and suffering on both sides has gone on for several generations. Both sides now hate and may not remember what the first fight was about. I pray that someday there will be peace in the Middle East. I would, as a Christan, love to go to Bethlehem and Jerusalem. This area is the birthplace of all the major religions of the world and yet is too dangerous for most believers to visit. Sad, isn't it.

Please give both side fo the story, not just your blinkered view.

The we can all make up our minds will all the facts.
