Nursing home supervisor problems?

i wont go into details about the sort of problems that im going through at work because there is not enough space provided....even if i summed it up....so im just going to get to the basics.....

im 18, and i work at a nursing home, my first job, and im a dietary aid... my supervisor.....

A) changes the schedules without notifying the person whos schedule she changed.

B) Because of the fact that she changes the schedule (especially mine) people think that i show up late, bcause often on my off day they wait till then to tell me that i have to work that day, plus sometimes on my offday when they tell me (at the last minute) i wont go in bacause im still in school and have other things to do ....makes my co-workers mad

C) there is unequal treatment they let the pregnant girl that i work with slouch around and get away with stuff, or do things in such a way diffrent than what i can because she is "pregnant" supervisor allows this...

PLUS......i wont find out the correct way of doing thigs until the state comes to the nursing homes....so im not being trained properly

today...(payday) i just found out that i have to go to the meetings every first of the month....she didnt even post it...and when i confronted the supervisor about that she said "im not going to baby you"

what do you suggest? have you experienced problems like this before? i man ive spoken to the adminstrator...should i just find a new job and not bother correcting things....

My guess is that the administrator has spoken to your supervisor and that is why things has gotten worse. Go to him again and tell him. Explain every thing don't state your feeling state ONLY THE FACTS. Try to have as much proof or evidence as you can.
Also when the schedule is posted make a copy of it,( take a good picture of it if you cant make a copy) that way when changes are made you have proof.

Sorry you're having such problems. Let the administrator know what is going on-that you aren't being notified of your schedule changes in a timely manner etc. I hope it gets better.

File a grievance with your HR person. The HR person should follow up with your complaints and handle the situation, I work in a nursing home also in Activities, and had sorta the same issues, and my supervisor and the administrator were best friend so you can only imagine how things were. But I talked to my HR person and she took care of the situation that we had. I found out that the supervisor can aslo be written up and things like that so that is my advice to you. Good Luck!

Welcome to the world of SNF politics.
Point out to the administrator you and your colleagues in the dietary service need further training to avoid deficiencies when the state shows up to do its yearly inspection, and you aren't getting it. Such inspections occur without warning and the reviewers often find problems in the kitchen.
Explain you don't typically jump the chain of command (go over your supervisor's head) to rectify problems, but you think he/she should know there are some pretty important problems going on in the department. No administrator can afford to have the entire dietary department quit at the same time, so you may be heard- and loud and clear!
Mention it makes retention of staff very difficult when employees aren't notified a week in advance of their upcoming week's work and assignment schedule. You and the rest of the staff have a life outside the SNF. Many need to make childcare arraingements, doctor's appointments, and school committments in advance.
Let the administrator know that you have tried to rectify the problems by approaching the dietary designee but haven't been able to make an impression on her.
I think it would be good to talk to the dietitian, too. She is the one who is ultimately responsible for compliance with hygiene and dietary regulations, and will be the one to take the fall when the state finds the deficiencies.
I'm afraid there isn't much you can do about the pregnant one. Just realize she'll be gone once she has the kid.
