Mark McGwire used medicine to help recover from injuries this is wrong why?

Physicians prescribe medicines to help their patients. Cancer patients are also given steroids to help them in their battle to live.

Sports Medicine is always on the cutting edge. Professional Athletes can afford the best medicines, so why should we take this medical treatment away from them?

Don't you know that Sports medicine normally benefits the common "Joe"?

Mark McGwire was frequently injured. He used Androstein prescribed by his doctor to aid in his recovery. Athletes should not use cutting edge medicine and technology to help prevent injury and for recovery from injury? Why not?

Therefore McGwire should be kept out of the Baseball Hall of Fame for what reason?

McGwire was big before using the sports medicines. Are you suggesting that people fighting injury should not take medicines, or use technology available to improve themselves and to prevent injury?

I think you are insinuating that he was taking steroids prescribed by a doctor. That is not the case, or else he would have stated that in front of congress! There is a great difference between taking steroids for medical reasons (as your example) and taking them to boost performance for sports. How many cancer victims taking steroids gain pounds and pounds of muscle from taking them?

When he testified in front of congress, he ducked and dodged like a pro boxer! If he were taking proscribed steroids by a licensed doctor for "injuries" then why would he not have stated "Yes I took steroid medication prescribed to me by DR. Smith to repair..." He did not do this!

And as for the andro he was using, that was NOT proscribed by his doctor, but was an over the counter supplement.

Using medicines to help with injuries proscribed by a doctor is one thing, using them to help hit a baseball an additional 50 feet? Not a chance!

And as for the statement "he was big before the medicines" give me a break! Take a look at the rookie cards of him, Bonds, Sosa and then tell me that he was big before! Pretty funny how a guy for years can hit 20-30 home runs, then out of nowhere, when he should be on the decline, start hitting 50-60-70 home runs. Eating his veggies? HA!

Because he used steroids for a LOT more than just getting healthy. He used them to bulk up and get an illegal edge on the competition. In short, he CHEATED, and he should be banned from the Hall of Fame for it, just like Barry Bonds should be.
