Aid for families of multiple births after artificial processes?

Often on television and talk show programs, you see families where multiple births have occurred as the result of artificial processes. Those receiving these treatments are well aware of the risks and financial/emotional burdens associated with multiple births, as many are also well informed by their doctors.

But, even after this, US celebrity is quick to jump onto the bandwagon and donate freebies (everything from food, clothes, toys, diapers, money) for these families. Why? What is your opinion on this?

Also, do you believe that those who take part in these treatments, resulting in any number of births--even just with one child, should be eligible to receive aid or benefits from the state (including welfare, medicaid, etc.)? Why or why not?

The freebies question is easy...advertising for the companies who give the stuff!
As for benefits, yes of course they should be eligible. They pay their taxes the same as everyone else....not to give them the same as regular citizens who don't have problems conceiving could be construed as discrimination!

i think they should be supported to a degree, but i do agree with you that it's kind of ridiculous. it's just as bad as someone refusing to work yet still getting government assistance.

Although these people are educated on having multiple births, many of them just have one child. At any rate, these couples are going through fertility treatments b/c they are having a hard time getting pregnant. If they need some diapers b/c they have 6 babies, I'd be happy to donate.... I have never heard of anyone who has recvd state/govt assistance if they have under went fertility treatments simply b/c the cost of the treatments are terribly high. My thought would be how did they pay for the treatments if they are on federal aide?

I think perhaps they were so desparate to have a child, they narrowed their minds against the odds of that many babies being born to them at once. Leaving the couple with far more children then they ever bargained for....not sure how to feel about my tax dollars going to them, but I would not want these children to go without. It would be very hard for the mother to work. Oh yeah I saw the show with the twins & 6 , two year olds. WOW!!! thats alot to deal with.
