Can anyone tell me the names of or where to find any retail, alcohol-free conditioner and/or shampoo?

A FAMILY MEMBER WHO HAS EXTREMELY LONG, COLOR TREATED, DAMAGED HAIR, AND SHE IS IN A DRUG TREATMENT FACILITY AND CANNOT HAVE ANY HEALTH AND BEAUTY AID PRODUCTS THAT CONTAIN ALCOHOL....(everything has alcohol in it.....everything). SHE IS GOING TO HAVE TO CUT OFF HER HAIR IF I CAN'T GET HER SOMETHING SOON.

I know, I know, it is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of. The staff says none of the products can contain any alcohol of any kind. Nothing. I KNOW the alcohol in health and beauty aids products is NOT the kind....but they send home ever product I buy. When we admitted her in the facility, they said no products with any kind of alcohol in the first 4 ingredients on the back of the bottle. Then they said 7 ingredients, now they say no alcohol at ALL. I bought some Biolage leave-in conditioner for $14.95, and it had alcohol as the 8th ingredient, and they said she couldn't have it......it's ridiculous!!!! I am so frustrated..........

I only use products w/o alcohol b/c they damage your hair. A LOT of stuff is made w/o it- try Biolage or Sunsilk, that's what we use. Just read the backs of the bottles for cetyl alcohol in the ingredients- you'll probably have better luck finding ones w/o in real salons b/c cheaper products use cheaper ingredients (like alcohol). And FYI, the type of alcohol in shampoo isn't the kind that can get u drunk, and even if it could, you'd have to drink so much shampoo to get drunk that you'd throw it all up first!

Shampoo doesn't usually have alcohol in it, not the kind that would be off limits to her, anyway. I checked the 3 different shampoos in our bathroom, none of them have it. Conditioners frequently have Cetyl Alcohol, but it is an emollient, and not related to the alcohol she can't have. It should be OK for her to use a product with Cetyl Alcohol in it. maybe you can try products from a natural store in england called lush, if your from america you may not have this but also try using maybe aussie. i'm not too sure about the products though and i know this is not a retail product but it is on line and is worth the try blended beauty or curls at. www.blended-beauty.com/www.curls.biz. i know you dont describe your hair as being curly but the result of the shampoo and conditioners are just phenomenal.
