"How can illegal aliens, but not war vets, get public aid?"?

Local veterans voiced two opposing battle cries :
The first camp claimed it's true that some vets receive monthly benefit checks for bogus combat-related injuries and ailments
The second camp is filled with disgruntled vets who've been trying to get VA benefits for years, without any luck, for seemingly legitimate service-related health problems.
Soldiers from both camps shared one common ground: They both noted how tragic it is that illegal aliens who have snuck into America are receiving public aid while ailing military vets who sacrificed their health for this country are getting little or no government assistance.Vets feel they have legitimate claims for VA assistance but have so far been ambushed by red tape, paperwork and delays.It truly is a sad state of affairs, when criminals get better treatment than our brave military veterans.

The VA is corrupt in some ways and yes there are tons of veterans out there that need help but can't get it.

Did you know that approximately 25-30% of all homeless are Veterans? Think they need some help too.

I have never seen a homeless illegal, but to be fair I am not looking for them either.

Its tough to go to Home Depot or Lowes without being accosted by groups of people looking for work.

As a veteran I am ashamed that what we all did for our country may not mean a thing, and that our elected officials have only their agendas, and our concerns mean really nothing.

Sad and true.....it's really a disgrace. Especially when after all this you don't even get a thank you....just more demands and hatred. Our vets deserve ALOT more than what they get for all they've done. Not to mention what their families go through as well. It makes me sick.

People who really need it never get it. They can sit at home on welfare and work the system.

I've seen the VA sytem, and corruption is rampant. The feds just cover up the corruption rather than deal with it. We do provide some Medical services to illegals. It's in our best interest for certain things like TB. We don't want them wandering around passing ti to us. I won't deny people Emergency care, but we need to do something about those who go to the ER for minor stuff. The care illegal immigrants get is substandard. I've also seen the types of doctors that service the poor. SOmetimes it seems to me, that they are better of not having a doctor. The illegal immigrants are killing their own community though. They tend to close down the Hospitals in their own neighborhood. They don't drive to Beverly Hills to get treated. Even if they Hospitals survive, tehy lack the resources to give out proper care. On the other hand , Veterans are getting substandard care as well. Frankly we need to out all the corrupt individuals in the VA system to our Vets. I;m sure with there training, they might be able to figure out what is the best thing to do with these treasonous thieves. I don't believe in torture, but like Bush said, Water boarding isn't torture.
