Why should individuals treat women as equals when the system is biased to their benefit?

How many men have been turned away from a position because the employer needed to increase his male-female ratio?

How many male students are turned away from a science department in University because the spot is reserved for a female student?

How many scholarships do male students do without because they are given only to female students?

Why should a female student recieve commendation for doing something that male student has achieved on a equal/better level?

Why should a male patient do without medical treatment because the hospital used its funding to hire doctors specializing in female-primary ailments?

Why should female drivers be given a blanketed lower rate than male drivers, rather than have priced based on performance alone?

Why should society waste scientific study on a better "wrinkle reducer" when people are dying of AIDS and other diseases?

Why?

What sources? this is pure conjecture and commentary on my percieved injustice towards the male sex as a member of it.

Anyone whose been through a major University in the Science faculty knows that female students are coddled by the institution and scholarship holders.

They shouldn't...Automatically...Be treated as equals...

The problem is that most women (and men,) fail to live up to their potential.

In the case of women, they have whined and complained until the judicial system cracked like a browbeaten house husband and legislated "equality" laws to counterbalance the perceived "prejudice" of society against women...

But we shouldn't allow that, "discrimination laws" hurt everybody, from businesses and the "discriminated," to the legislative system itself. I won't rant about it here, but I'll put a couple of "off main topic" links to other answers I think show how I feel about our so called "misogynistic" society.

Forget treating women as "equals," forget treating ANYONE as "equals."
When I meet someone, I treat them as a "human," and give them a basic level of respect based solely on the assumption that they have basic cognitive abilities and some kind of interpersonal ethic. Then I will give or take as much respect as they prove themselves worthy of by their actions...

We should not take the constitution's line of "all men are created equal," to mean males in particular, or that people continue to be equals after the trials of life...It only means that we all start with the same basic rights and potential...What we do with that should be the ONLY determining factor of how we are treated by others...

That, and how charming we are!

Why do I still make 75 cents to your dollar for doing the same job? Why is it that I have to tell my boyfriend what's wrong with my car (because he knows nothing about them) and have him call the mechanic, because if they talk to a woman, they'll screw me over? Why can't an executive look me in the eye instead of starring at my **** while I'm in a meeting?

I understand the life of a white male must be tough (waaaaa!)... but maybe you need to realize that these things attempt to level an uneven playing field. Not *everything* is biased towards women. That's completely illogical and you clearly have no idea what you're talking about, just whining about things that affect you.

And your wrinkle cream rant is just ridiculous. It's called money. How much money is spent on drugs that give men boners?? Grow up and realize that the world does not revolve around you.

1. There are currently MORE women than men in college, and significantly more women than men in Grad school. There really is no "quota system" based on gender for school admissions.
2. You can't "force" private scholarships to be non-sexist OR non-racist. They're PRIVATE, and the NAACP isn't going to be giving YOU a scholarship anytime soon, either.
3. Drivers are given car insurance rates based on studies which indicate that females are less likely to cause an accident. This saves them money. If you think that this needs "controlling", then I'm SURE you're for demanding equal pay for equal work, right? If a company has different starting pay for different employees at the same position, this should be outlawed? You're against capitalism?

Give me some sources so I can discuss these issues with you one by one. Otherwise, these are what are known as "opinions", and I can't really do much with them.

EDIT: Lemon, that is blatantly false as it pertains to gender. They actually had to reconfigure the ACTs, since the average woman was testing slightly better than the average man. I can't speak to racial quota systems, as they vary quite a bit from school to school - however, as of this writing, both the SAT and ACT are without race-based "curves". I personally am against quota systems and "adding points" to people's tests, but this is mainly a problem in other areas, like employment.

Men and women are not equal. We are totally different. Men have their places in life and women have theirs. Not to say anyone is any better, its just life. Yes there is things that you have listed that are irritating but there is things that are bad for both sexes and races, not just the white man. We just have to live our lives to the fullest and try to play nice ;-)

Women work their asses off to get where they are, a lot of times much harder than a man has to.

The world is messed up... No one should be treated equal to another. That means a white man shouldnt be treated equal to a white man same going for all other races and genders. Why? Because, being treated one way or another should be baised on wether or not ur intellegent, how hard you work, who you are... its not a matter of what you are but WHO. And to tell the truth the white man rly does get the short end of the stick

O and dont be a jack @$$!!! We women are individuals and if you spend more time thinking about that and less time thinkng about how to belittle our work ethic and how to get a glimpse of our chest u would relize this.

Say you need to get 125 points on an exam to get into a college.
Well if a black woman takes the test because shes black and a woman she gets 15 points already! so if she only got a 110 she gets in any way.
If a black man takes the test he gets ten extra points because hes black! so if he got a 115 he gets in any way.
If a white woman takes the test she gets 5 extra points because shes a woman! so if she got a 120 she gets in!
But a white man gets no extra points... so if he gets a 124 making him the most qualified of them all... He doesnt get in.

This is not equality 鈥?it's just pandering. If we had it our way, women would have equal opportunity and encouragement, but not lower standards.

And who says they are been taken seriously ? They aint exactly because of what you listed.

I completley agree with many of these ( if they are opinions). the entire objecive of women's rights was to gain EQUALITY for women, not an advantage, (same goes for affirmative action). I have read that on average, women get more help to get into colleges and universities, But i am not sure if your sixth and fifth statement are true.

Learn to put yourself in other people's shoes once in a while, Selfish. Lose the massive and extremely unflattering ego. Go read some sociology books, while you're at it. Perhaps consider some remedial studies in the humanities.

The reason why is when someone shoves you out of the running is not considered as your equal; anyone who receives special treatment is never to be considered an equal. Your equal will be treated the same as you regardless.
