Need to find a cure?

I am question the same question I posted under"Funding for cure?" from a different perspective, please do not disregard this as duplicate, but please refer to that for additional supplement.

I am interested in the "entrepreneuring of the medication research business."

Take AIDS for example, there is absolutely no incentive whatsoever for major pharmaceutical companies for finding a cure. Why would any company loose the prospect of profiting $13,000 per person on a triple cocktail treatment that essentially BINDS the person to undergo the treatment for the rest of the person's life. You do the math.

Instead, my argument is that a medical cure breakthroughs are always always made by one or two people, without the red tape of major corporation. What they need is the source of funding for research and the monetary incentive to do so, fame comes with that automatically.

continue...

An academic researcher, at tenure professorship level or even at Ph.D. level, do not have the funding issue. I think arguments can be very easy made there. Instead the focus should be placed on the financial reward.

An pool of reward of money, say $100 million, can easily be put together from $3 from each of the 36 million people who are inflicted with AIDS worldwide. This pool can be administered by an independent, reputable organization to be dispensed at the discovery of AIDS.

Please tell me how many researchers worldwide would not be tempted by this?

In other world, this is a form of "entrepreneuring" of medical research field, where is enormous profit to be made, if a very talented individual or team is/are motivated enough financially to undertake a very complex medical research.

Would this kind of system work? Thoughts please.

That sounds really very convincing but that is not true.

You are right that some drugs were invented by one or two people but not all of them. Many of the today daily used antibiotics are the complex result of teamwork in large companies.

Otherwise it wouldn't be possible to manage this. Today the knowledge base is too vast to be known by only one or even two persons.

And why shouldn't they invent a drug against AIDS ? There are over 100 million people infected. When you get just 10 dollars out of each one you get 1 billion. And I don't believe that this remedy will be as cheap as 10 dollars. It's THE money spinner of the future. And AIDS won't disappear just because the remedy just like all the other disease which are curable, you can kill the bacteria but they come back.

I would forget this conspiracy theory because it isn't true !
