Shouldnt we be able to limit who comes into america?

if we let in anyone who wants to enter, what about people with incurable diseases? (aids, TB, etc.)

considering the fact that US tax payers will have to pay for their treatment, because they wont be able to find gainful employment (if any at all) should we let just anyone in or do we have the right to exclude people who are going to die (for the most part) because of personal decisions that they made?

Even when America still had an open doors immigration policy they still checked people out for horrible illnesses and such and didn't let them in.

No one could deny a nation the right to keep people from flooding in. But the wisdom of such a policy can be questioned.

But when a nation the size of the USA can not afford to let more in, then doesn't this seem like another piece of evidence that the world is becoming too crowded? And if this is the case, then things like immigration reform become not very important. When the world has simply too many mounts to feed, destruction will soon follow.

So for those who want to fight the good fight for human rights, the environment, etc, you'd be wise to fight the better fight against over-population.

Sure.

We need to now.To many that really need financial assistance.Draining the country.

you gotta put yourself on both sides of the fence. if it were you on the other side [from another country] and you were sickly and dreaming of coming to America where there are better doctors and hospitals and possibly a cure, wouldn't you want to come too?
that's a sticky question, but i understand where your coming from.

America is a free country, we will take anyone who wants to live here. The problem is most of these people find it easier to sneak in and do what they want and run from the law their whole lives. It would just be easier if they came here legally, did all the proper paper work and became a legal citizen.

No, because then they will come into the country illegally. Its best to have them documented. We do have a cap on how many people can come into the U.S. each year.

Sure, if not for any other reason, for the sake of praticality.

We have immigration laws that are supposed to restrict immigration. The laws, I believe, for the most part are OK. It's the enforcement of said laws that is lacking. This comes right from the top. Our elected officials and their assignees and their hirelings should not be allowed to pick and choose the laws "they" want to enforce and those "they" don't. It's time for those electees and their cronies to be held accountable for not enforcing the laws, especially those that have such an impact.
