I have a huge scrape on my arm and I need some advice?

My Band-Aids keep falling off, so I held it on with a bandage. But that kept slipping.

So today, before track practice, I went to my athletic trainer and she put on a Band-Aid with ointment, some of this really nice pre-wrap foamy stuff, and an adhesive bandage that "sticks to itself, not the skin" (as stated by the wrapper). That worked out really well, seeing as the Band-Aid did not move at all.

But my dad thinks that that's full of crap. He said that I should only put on a Band-Aid to "let the air flow in", which I thought was bull-crap. He says that "by letting the air in, it'll turn into a scab and heal quicker because I'm 15 and I heal fast at a relatively young age".

I wanted to do the same thing my trainer did, but my dad said that that was the dumbest thing to do. Who's form of treatment is better, my dad's or mine/my athletic trainer's (these scrapes, by the way, are HUGE, looks like 4 gunshots from a .44 magnum).

If you're just sitting at home, I would take the band-aid off and let your scrape air out, it's important that it breathes. But if you're working and doing things, it's important to cover it up and protect it from infection. So your trainer and your Dad are both right.

some neosporin a band-aid and let the air flow in

I'd say Yours/your athletic trainer's because letting the air get to the scrape will probably make it infected.
