I need topics...?

I'm in the 8th grade and for English class we need to make an (excuse me for bad spelling) "Expository?" Essay. We need to research on an illness or a diesese that is being worked on or already has a cure/treatment. I do not want to do Cancer or AIDS becuase alot of people are already going to do that. I want some type of eye diesese because I know alot of the eye. Any ideas?

Also, tell me a bit what you know of the subject.

Follow the link below to know about a lot of eye dieseses.

http://www.clevelandclinic.org/eye/patie...

pink eye, blindness

glaucoma. it results in blindness.

by the way, you can use the spell checker on here before you submit your question or answer. that helps.

below is a list of solid sources on glaucoma.

I got a topic, "Should Asians be allowed to drive".

cataracts!

It affects so many people and animals.

glacoma (Excuse my spelling as well, and I have a B.A.)

Nothing I know is about the eyes... How about polio? It's a disease in the legs.

Try this website it has a huge list of diseases: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_dis...

ha, i have this same assignment and I'm in the 10th grade. Well, what about cancer (or non-cancerous tumors) of the eye. I knew someone who had it. It started out as a really bad headache, but they later found out they had a large (baseball size) tumor behind their eye. Apparently, it's becoming common.

Macular degeneration is a common one and so is glaucoma.

the only one i can think of is glucoma (sp) this is a wide subject, but go to webmd.com and do a search and see what diseases are more rare. it is always great to do something u think the teacher wouldn't know about bc it won't be boring to him/her to read, and they will learn something. it is a great feeling when u know u have taught your teacher something

binocular vision, lazy eye and the combination

this is not all that common and is hard to treat. it prevents driving , playing sports, and a lot of other things like limiting the kind of work you can do. it is not viewed as a disability even though it most definitely is.

ex... when reading the words appear to be in motion
ex... when driving you cant tell which lane you are in and have no depth perception to know how far you are from other cars
ex... factory work is impossible because movement of you vision and movement of the line at the same time makes you dizzy

Retinoblastoma. It's considered cancer if I'm not mistaken.. I think it's cancer of the retina. My young cousin died from it. I don't know too much about it except that you develop a tumor in the retina of the eye at a very young age. Alot of young kids die from it, it's really sad because there vision slowly deteriorates and when it's a baby they don't have anyway to really tell anyone that so it's not always caught in time.

Sorry, I know you didn't want a cancer but I'm not firmiliar with to many other eye diseases so I thought I would share what I did know anyway. Good luck. =]

Macular degeneration is an eye disease which narrows the field of vision until it totally disappears. It usually hits people 40+. I know there is treatment for it. Part of it is dietary. Sorry I don't know more.

Diabetics can experience eye problems, I think it is call retinal neuropothy.

We also have circulatory problems along with numbing in the extremities caused by neuropothy.

As far as your spelling goes, use the spell checker. It won't find incorrect words but it will find misspelled ones.
