True Friends? I left a job I loved because of unfair treatment by my Manager.?

It was also an opportunity to aid my development. My old job has only just been advertised due to structural changes. I have been in my current job for 6 mths. I applied, as did 3 of my friends. One of my friends is 'close' to her Manager and to avoid a conflict of interest has to apply for a new job. I had my interview, where I had to strongly justify why I wanted my job back and presented an business plan (which noone else did). I have 9 years experience to offer to the role and have always been a good performer. This is a management role and the other candidates had no management experience. I was offered the job on Thurs, which upset my friends who say it is unfair I was allowed to apply. I understand their disappointment but think they are being unreasonable. We normally do lunch but they avoided me on Fri. One friend has been through a terrible time and I have been there for her. I am very upset by their actions as they know why I left my job in the first place.

Thanks for your answers so far, I just feel so disappointed. I do not think one of my friends is being very rational as she is acting like I took away something that was not hers in the first place. I think she may think that had I not applied, the job would have been hers however this is not necessarily the case. If only my friends realised how hurt I feel about their reaction.

If you were someone else, they wouldn`t have a reason to complain. What`s their point? It used to be your job and you have proven you are the best suited for it.
Do your friends pay your rent? Do they want to see you climb the corporate ladder? Are they really friends?
When you have answered these simple questions for yourself, you know what to do.....

stuff them all its your life if the have no get up and go the just get up and leave them behind

Misery loves company.They just have to get used to you making more money and have more "power." You have the experience and the "know how" if they want that job then they should show they're credentials. It really isn't you trying to get one "up on them" just better yourself. And if they can't understand that then they aren't really good friends.

I am sorry that your friends are acting that. Sometimes a job title can really bring out who a person truly is. Obviously, you qualified for the position and do NOT allow their response to get to you. Enjoy your job because you have earned it.

God only puts certain people in our lives for a certain period of time. He showed you this for a reason....just sit back and watch what else God will make plain to see. If they are supposed to be in your life, be a friend, then they will man up and apologize and applaud you. It's not you, it's them.

Why did you give in. Eventually they would have gotten over it not to mention leaving the job would not have taken the deed away. Start thinking more about yourself and less about others. Selfish, i know, but it'll work out in the end.

Some places have a policy that the door only swings one way when you leave. It mean not be wriiten on paper, but that is just how it is. As for your so called friends there is often talk when people leave and even though it may not be true what is said, it often colors how people regard you.

Although you have nine years of experience you are still relatively early in your career. Keep adding to your bag of tricks and believe their is something better for you around the corner. You may have enjoyed going back and working with people you already knew and were comfortable with. It is hard to move on, but sometimes it is the best thing for you.

A 'true' friend would be happy for you. a 'true' friend would have kept in touch and been there for you.
Stuff em'. If they can't be happy you've improved your lot in life, you need better friends.

At work place there is not true friend. I had similar issue at my previous work. I wanted to progress and my boss didn't want that so they made my life miserable for one year just because I changed the role from Accounts receivable to Accounts payable.

Don't worry about those who are ready to distroy you when you don't deserve that. Focus on your job and all the best.
