What is the treatment for shock in the triage method.?

i need to know the treatment and any other first-aid for shock.

Shock is also known as hypoperfusion, because the body tissues aren't getting the oxygen they need (possible because they aren't getting blood, possibly because there isn't enough oxygen in the blood they are getting). The treatments revolve around solving that problem. Stopping any bleeding, elevating the feet (so gravity pulls blood out of the legs towards vital organs -- can also use inflatable anti-shock pants for this), giving IV fluids or blood (if low blood volume is a problem), providing oxygen (to increase the oxygen capacity of the blood), and using some blankets to prevent hypothermia.

Shock is essentially a state of inadequate tissue perfusion. That means that the tissues and organs in the body are not being adequately perfused. That is they are not receiving enough oxygen to carry on aerobic metabolism. Hypoperfusion can be caused due to a loss of volume meaning a loss of blood through internal or external bleeding. This is caused hypovolemic shock. There are other types of shock, but hypovolemic shock is what most people think of when they discuss shock.

Treatment for hypovolemic shock involves placing the patient in the trendelenburg position which involved elevating the patients feet in order to allow gravity to keep more fluids in the core. Also, the patient should be kept warm. As blood is shunted away from the peripherial portions of the body, hypothermia becomes more of a concern. As a paramedic, I would also start IV therapy on the patient. I would start two (one in each arm) large bore IVs on the patient, and I would run the fluids in fast in order to try and maintain blood pressure. Finally, as the primary concern of shock is inadequate perfusion of oxygen, I would address this issue by supplying the patient with 100% supplemental oxygen. I would also be sure to monitor and protect the patient's airway and try to control any bleeding.

Normally, shock is generally treated by raising the casualties legs and covering him with a blanket. However, in a triage, the first aiders do not have sufficient time to tend to shock casualties, and shock casualties are usually given low priority. The best way to treat shock in a case is to grab a chair, place casulaties legs on the chair, and get him out of there whenever a stretcher is ready.

Shock aka perfusion is do to cell hypoxia, where the cells of the body aren't getting enough oxygen or nutrients. to treat shock you will need to stop any bleeding that is acquiring using the proper methods to control the bleeding. Elevate the persons feet about 8-12 inches to help bring blood back to the vital organs, place the person on oxygen if possible and maintain normal body temp. using blankets.

The treatment for shock, regardless if one casualty or dealing with triage must always be the best position based on the casualty's condition. If they are unconscious and no neck injuries are suspect, put them on their side in the recovery position. If they are conscious, elevate their feet. If they are having difficulty breathing have them semi seated and supported leaning towards injured side if that helps them breathe better.

I think triage is only the classification and segregation of patients through different priorities. The only management we give during these times is opening the airway and contolling bleeding. Care for shock is moving the blood to a part of a body where it is needed most. (head) that is mhy we need to elevate the feet.
