What is the treatment for AIDS?

HIV treatment involves a lot of different drugs. The typical treatment is triple drug combination therapy. It's also called HAART (Highly Active Anti-Retroviral Therapy.) It's 3 different drugs that hit the virus in different stages of development. There are several combinations of different drugs that can be involved.

There are also a newer drug called a fusion inhibitor that prevents HIV from attaching itself to a T-Cell.

All of these drugs treat the virus (HIV). AIDS is a condition brought on my long term infection with HIV. Triple drug combination therapy will increase T-Cell counts & reduce the amount of virus in a patient - which will make them healthier.

These drugs all have side-effects & are a huge commitment to patients. Missing doses of the pills can cause the virus to mutate and grow resistant to the drugs.

There are several treatments available for the various opportunistic infections that hit people with AIDS.

Triple drug combination therapy has extended AIDS patients lives by many, many years. Scientists speculate that people can live a long healthy life on these drugs.

there is no treatment or cure but there is the aids cocktail that will sustain life a little longer

You can't technically treat, or cure AIDS. You can however try to treat a lot of the illnesses that occur because of the disease.

There is no treatment.
