Arthritic horse help?

My horse broke a pedal bone in his back foot about 5yrs ago and while he has a bit of arthritis in his coffin joint it has never been a problem. He is 13 now and whilst cantering up the field at the weekend has either twisted himself or placed his foot badly or stood on a stone and was lame for a few days. The swelling has gone down but he is still uncomfortable. After speaking with the vet and taking advice I am now looking to put him on some supplements to aid his recovery and as an ongoing treatment. Can you guys give me any advice on what combinations to use or what has been successful for you, there is such a choice I'm getting baffled!

I have had great results with a combination of glucosamine, MSM, and chondritin. My father had a gelding he used to give Legend (HA) injections to. These worked well with this gelding, but I have always used the feed thru combo and it worked great for me.

I use Joint Saver by Figuerola for my TB mare. She is 14 and was diagnosed with arthritis in her hocks and stifles. Prior to diagnosis I had her on MSM but she needed more joint support. It contains MSM, gluosamine, chondroitin, amino acids,SAMe. It also contains a form of HA to help lubricate the joints. Before starting my mare on this she was in a bit of discomfort now she is bucking, running, and rearing in the fields. I highly recommend this product. Valley vet sells it cheaper than most other places.

Cider vinegar is an old remedy for stiff joints.
Homoeopathy have some good remedies too. I use a company called Ainsworths. Google it and you can call and speak to them.
I treated my horse for sarcoids very successfully with homoeopathic remedy's.

devils claw is a herbal remedy which is great for bones and joints as it loosens them out - you can but it in liquid form and just add it to the feed
