Sick young cat- non regenerative anemia. Please help?

Hello- my cat is not making any red blood cells & is low on oxygen
My cat Malibu has gone downhill very quickly with this rare anemia. All bloods are normal apart from the very low red-blood count (pvc 10) He is having a transfusion so we have more time to treat him. The strange part is that the Vets advised a Bone Marrow aspiration/biopsy- but they have no treatments once a diagnosis is found. we are in shock, Malibu is an amazing cat & so loving, he deserves to live.
We can also try steroids on Malibu too. He is negative for flv and aids. Any suggestions appreciated with kindness

Do you have a vet school associated with a major teaching hospital available to you or your vet? This is the place for a consultation, as I can assure you there *are* treatments out there. I have a dear friend who adopted a cat from our rescue, she was supposedly terminally ill with a similar condition. Their vet consulted with the wonderful vets at U Penn vet hospital, they removed her spleen, and 4 years later she's fat and sassy! There are teaching hospitals all over the country, just like for people - U Penn, Tufts, Cornell - please speak with your vet and see what's available near you.
