Medical leave and financial aid?

So im in the middle of a medical crisis and need to get treatment for problems i may have. Im Currently in college and recieving financial aid which covers all my tution and gives me money back. The question is what will happen if i have to drop school with the extra money i recieved plus my tuition money? Ive heard of emergancy funds for students but don't know much about it. I'll be seeing a finiancial aid advisor soon, but i would appreciate input of anyone who has gone through a similar experience.
