Is this unethical of me?

I have developed a strand of the p53 gene that automatically restores itself and aids in the process of PCD or apoptosis. It also balances itself to prevent the onset of ischemia, and other conditions that result from excessive apoptosis. For those of you not too knowledgeable in this field, this is a super-treatment for cancer. I plan to sell it for millions, maybe a cool billion. Should I just make it available to mankind for free?

If you're planning to sell it, you'd best hurry before which ever doctor discovered it patents it himself (which is perfectly legal for them to do, and if they do, a judge can force you to make your cells available for research).

I do not think selling yours is the key. Once a company has your gene it can be reproduced in a lab, or they could have others willing to donate for free.

The key to wealth in this instance would be the ability to produce a drug for the market that uses p53. The problem would be the millions of dollars required for all the clinical trials that would be necessary before the FDA would approve it.

The only really "unethical" part of it is that you are full of sh*t...why would someone smart enough to have "developed a strand of the p53 gene that automatically restores itself" ask a question as stupid as this one: "I just got out of a long term relationship and looking for a fling.Any ideas on the best way to do this. I don't feel like wining and dining, or spending money on some cheesy website with fake profiles. Help?" (<= You asked this...remember?)

i reckon cancer is worse than AIDS, AIDS is overrated, and more prevantable than cancer, though not too familiar with that jargon of genes , that is an ethical idea unless of coz you suggest one should be healed by faith, spiritually, anyway you must be joking .. from me AKA "the hoods surgion"............

I do not believe a word you are saying because if this is true, write out your formulas and have it submitted to the FDA and they will let us know how full of salami you are.

You are the only one who can make that decision. Only you can decide even if it has to be an "either/or" situation.

First register your copy right on it. So that others do not replicate it. Then sell it for billions. It is not unethical

I would do it as a gift. God blessed you with this gene, don't capitalize on it.
