First aid treatment for burns?

i had a nasty burn to my hand , the sunday before xmas .and of the chemist were closed so for about 3 hours i kept putting my hand in and out of cold water so painful then my husband came home and he said his mother used bicarbonate of soda he put some on a clean tea towel and added water within 10 minutes the stinging had gone and there was no blisters.put the soda solution next to the burn but not on broken skin.

yes i did try lavender oil as i am very fond of lavender oil,but it didn't take away the stinging.thanks

it sounds weird but lavander oil, it really works, if put on burns right away it can heal without scarring

Never heard of that one, but it seems to be working. Just keep an eye on the burn and make sure it does not get infected (pus, swelling, pain).

For the burn I would recommend covering it with a sterile non-stick dressing (available from chemists). Do not break the blisters, and if it is a particularly bad burn, do not apply ointments, lotions or creams - seek medical help asap.

it will depend on the degree of the burn - how you burned it open flame - chemical - but form what I'm hearing it is to bad for a home remedy - that's been over a good week - think you need to see a doctor

You did the right thing by putting your hand in cold water as the idea is to remove the heat from burnt or scolded area, never put butter or any oily substance it will make it a lot worse
