Oh and there is also a tack shop at my barn! so it won't be hard to get something if i need it. :) And also with my showing, i will probably wait a season to show my new horse, so we get used to eachother and so i know his/her personality better. :)

Looks like you've done the majority of your research. With halters, I'd recommend having a few extra. I typically like to use a halter that has at least a bit of leather so that it breaks away easily if the horse gets hooked up with it. Then I also like having a rope halter to touch up a bit on manners on the ground. It's always a good idea to have a few extras, because halters will break or get dirty :).

Do you really think you'll need a heavy blanket? I have fly sheets, a cooler (slicks off water from their coats) and a light sheet that just keeps him clean at shows. If you are going to have him blanketed over the winter so he cannot get a heavy winter coat, then you need the heavy blanket. Think that over, that's just a personal choice, though I let my horses coat out in the winter and I ride them lighter than in the summer.

I always like having protective bandaging, some form of cotton type of bandage that will absorb up blood and stop bleeding if the leg is cut. Vet wrap (which you have down) is a savior, but you really need some cotton type of wrap under it to put against the wound and THEN wrap the vet wrap :)

Don't buy a horse that needs a cribbing collar o.o... try to avoid that at all costs. Cribbing can be a terrible habit for a horse =/

Also, if you ride english you may consider getting a riding crop to carry along with you, since I don't think I saw it on the list, lol.

Another good note, it's a great idea to have 2 pads, instead of just one. That way, if one is dirty you can rotate and I like having a very nice white dressage pad for my showing and a more trashy one for everyday use. You can try to find closeout deals, though, on various websites to get them. Just because they're on sale, doesn't make them bad quality.

I hate riding with Martingales, so... that's just me =/ hopefully you won't need one.

It's always a good idea to have a second girth/cinch around as well as extra stirrup leathers in case the ones you have break, but those things you should just collect on your way. I also carry extra reins along with me (mostly for other people) and you should definately make sure to have another helmet. If you fall off your horse and it's minor, but you did hit your head (which should be protected by a helmet) before you get on you need to change out helmets. I fell one day and hit my helmet against a rock, I wasn't even winded and got up right away, but my helmet had a huge dent in it. Thankfully, I have 3 spare helmets and I just switched out and got back up and went. (The tack had slid on my horse, another good reason to make sure you have correct fitting tack!).

You sound like you've done a lot. Good job. When you go to find the right horse, it's always nice to have a professional with you. If you can't have one, then that's alright -- but try to visit the horse a couple of times, ask the owners LOTS of questions, even if they seem like you're almost too nosy about it.

Enjoy your horse!

EDIT: Well, jeeze! You've already got everything figured out. You make OUR jobs awefully easy XP. Good job on being so prepared, it's lovely to see.

It appears you are well prepared. Are you boarding at a facility that provides feed? If not, I don't see hay and grain. If you're doing the feeding, I would suggest a clean rubber garbage can with a lid to store the grain in. You'll need a good grain scoop and bowl. I'd also recommend a clean tarp to keep the hay covered to help keep the dust off.
I'd also add some Schreiner's wound care to your first aid kit. There's nothing better for healing cuts and open wounds.
As far as the buying process goes, try not to be emotional and go with the first horse you see. I'd ask to walk the horse and ride the horse to get a feel for how the two of you connect. Touch all over and make sure there are any problem areas. If you can't have someone with experience along with you, take pictures from all angles and have your trainer or 4-H leader look them over. Oh, and don't forget to check their teeth and feet! This will reveal soundness and true age. Good Luck, and Happy Trails!

its refreshing to see someone on here who's actually ready for the horse theyre buying ! :) you could add a face brush, but honestly that's all i can see! i trail ride though, so i have some extra things. if you trail ride you could add a pocket knife & a compass. have fun with your new horse! theyre the best :)

First of all, congratulations on the new sweetheart! I wish I could have a horse, ha ha! I can tell you're excited, and you have a very thought out list! I couldn't think of much more, but here's few things you might want to look into:

Tail bags (if you show a lot, they're very handy for keeping the tail clean!)

Veterinarian and Farrier Numbers/References (I know this is obvious, but some of the most obvious things sometimes are forgotten!)

I couldn't think of anything else, but as for the things you're unsure of to buy or not, I'll help you there:

Sheath Cleaner- Unless you are getting a mare, a huge yes!

Supplements- They come in handy a lot, so yes!

Cribbing Collar- Not a whole lot of horses crib (I only know one) so no unless you find out your horse does crib!

Martingale- I know why you're considering this, but don't at first. Unless you totally need when you're riding your horse (after awhile) you really never need these.

Hope I helped, and email me your beauty when you get him/her! :)

When looking at horses don't bother with those advertised as western pleasure prospects. Only about 15% of those advertised are really western pleasure prospects and only about 10% of actual prospects will ever show in Western Pleasure. Buy a horse in training, or one already trained.

wow! you are pretty much ready. you might want to have some medical stuff if the barn does not provide it like bute, novelson, ect... but other than that you are extremely prepared.

WOW I think you have your ducks in a row. Good job. Things I can think of, is are your blankets waterproof, If not invest in scotch guard. If your horse is on pasture board and the halter is left on get a breakaway halter. They really do work.( My mare just broke hers and all I have to do is buy a new crown piece and not a whole halter.) Maybe since you have a pitch fork a muck tub? I really can't think of anything else. I think you are good to go.

As for buying a horse make sure you have a pre-purchase exam done and take prospective horses for more then one test ride.

haha I think you've got it down xD it's good to see someone obviously trying to prepare themselves for a new horse. Not just buying the horse and then not having anything for the horse so good job :)

I honestly don't see anything missing (if anything there are a few things you could drop like the fly mask, fly sheet, and sleezie, unless the horse REALLY needs them).

Aha I found one you left out ^^ a grooming bag to store all your grooming suplise :D You may also want a trunk (you can buy one at the home improvement place if you dont want to buy a really expensive one from the tack store) just to keep all your things together...but your barn may already suply all those or have lockers already :)

Good Luck and have fun with your new horsie ;DDD

I am pretty sure that's going to be enough. But, if you find out you need something, it's not the end of the world. If you need something right away, ask your friend or someone at your barn if you can borrow one of whatever you need.
For your horse, although you may immediately love him, he doesn't know you yet so don't be so abrupt with him. Get a lot of bonding time with him, and you'll soon be a great team!
